exciting news

this is exciting news for those movies fans. There's a guy at the Doom9 who cracked the copy protection for the new next generation of movies, namely HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. He gets a key from some of the new players and decrypts the movies to a hard drive. Engadget tested it out and they were able to get the movies on their HD but they weren't able to play them due to the crappiness of PowerDVD/WinDVD. I wonder if it'll be as easy to play as DVD's were, so we'll have to see.

Q and A

Q: Have you ever experienced a “pogonip,” a.k.a. “frost smoke” and “white death?”
A: It’s tiny ice crystals suspended near the ground as a mist or fog, says Randy Cerveny in “Freaks of the Storm.” When warm air from a valley rises up into a cold wind blowing lengthwise, a freezing fog can descend and cover everything with minute frost crystals. A five-day pogonip - the term coined by Native Americans of Nevada - in January 1892 deposited a coating of ice 2 inches thick on trees, buildings, cattle and people! “I personally saw one in Antarctica in 1987. It appeared as a bright line of frosty white on the horizon and trekked across the flat ice sheet for several hours before reaching our camp. We were encased in a white featureless tomb.”
Observers in Greenland dubbed it “frost smoke,” noting it could cause blisters on the face or hands. Some Native Americans believed the “white death” could rupture the lungs. Indeed in the late 1800s, a group in Colorado reportedly took sick with violent coughs and fever after passing through a pogonip, causing one death.

Beach Cruiser Bikes

Here's a neat idea for a gift.beach cruiser blog are something fairly new for holiday folk. The moonlight walks with the stars dancing in the waves. Riding bicycles along the sandy shore to the ice cream shop. The bikes were fun to hit the ocean spray and chase the seagulls. They were made like the ones in the seventies, with the chopper handle bars and the banana seats. Now they call this style Beach cruisers or Low Riders. Either way, they are fun to ride. I have found out that XYZBikes.com is the only Internet presence that carries them. That's good for customers because they want to build a customer base and are receptive to feedback. So, let them know you read about them in my blog. I went and had a look at their catalog to see what caught my eye. They have models that are modern and sleep and some with a retro look. The models that immediately caught my eye were the 26" XYZ Purple Beach King Cruiser .XYZBikes actually has a color chart up for future bikes and they’d love to know what colors or color combination you’d like to see their new bikes come in. Unfortunately I can’t read the numbers under the colors in their chart. I like the bike designs with the yellow tire frame rims. It looks neat and it probably looks really cool when the bikes are being ridden. Other colours from the chart that I think might work are the Mustard yellow as a trim colour on either a black or blue based bike. They have family friendly prices. The bikes are priced right and they don't charge you an arm and a leg for a great fun ride.check it out!

Back to Blogging

I felt that I needed to take a little break from writing, especially when I began dreaming about blogging. I guess it's like getting into the swing of daily exercising, getting into habit of writing can become just as addicting. There has been so many thoughts and ideas and discoveries that I've come across in passed few days. It has been difficult not to dash to a computer to blog. These urges tend to pass mainly because there hasn't been a computer available to dash to. I really need to break down and get a digital voice recorder; one that has software to transcribe sounds into text.

Directory of Maildrops and Remailing Services

Do you know Maildrop?A Mail drop is a secure address, recognised by the postal service, where you can rent a box and effectively use it as postal address remailing service. There have been vast improvements in the security and filtering of emails, which has allowed people to feel more confident about sending sensitive documents. But there is still a need for normal mailing, such as bills, personal letters, packages and other courier related items that simple must be posted this way. But how can a business or individual ensure their security, quickly and simply. I've been thinking about solutions for this problem for a while, and yesterday I was shown this example for mailboxes, by a website, maildropguide.com. This service provides a complete online directory of secure mail boxes, drop boxes and remailing services in your area. This type of service is perfect for those that wish security in the mail delivery, and reduce the risk of mail being tampered with or stolen, especially important for businesses and companies. This type of service is also perfect for those starting up their own business from home, and by using a drop address, can greatly add to the credibility of their company, mailing to a prestigious, address as oppose to a residential address. Maildropguide also offers listing service--$40 for a lifetime listing.this directory is a great place to start.check it out.

just plain

I just plain don't feel well today. My ear still hurts. I'm sniffly. I have absolutely NO energy. I hope I'm not coming down with something, but I sure feel bad.

We didn't get home till around 2:30 AM this morning from work, as noted in a previous post. Today, I'm really suffering because of that. All I really want to do is get back under the covers and snooze.

There's a little laundry to do, so I really need to get that caught up first.

I have to work tonight - closing, of course. Since neither of the boys is driving, that means I have to get out and drive or I'd just call in sick. Still might. I can take them, then pick them up later. It's a lot of driving but at least I could have a break maybe. If nothing else, maybe I could even just see about going in a lot later just to help close. If I could just get some rest today and this evening, I could probably handle going in later.

Xbox Live

After being available to the masses for over a month, it appears that the Xbox Live Video service is doing very well and is outperforming competitors who have struggled in the online video market.Ars Technica has taken a look at the Xbox Live Video service and examines what it does differently and what has allowed it to perform better than similar services. A pretty interesting article.

Fitness Clubs With Great Personal Trainer

Do you need a great personal training? When I was a teenager, and in my early twenties I used to be very athletic. I was a runner, did weight training to keep in shape when I had competions, and after I was out of the running game I still kept fit by going to fitness clubs, jogging and doing aerobics. All right,I know as age catches up, the calorie burner has slowed down tremendously and there is an urgent need to exercise to keep fit.I know that I’m a bit of a different case because the main reason that I’m becoming out of shape is that I’m in pain so I’m not moving about as much as I used to, but even for someone like me fitness is important. In fact it might be even more important for a person with chronic pain because excercise helps stimulate endorphin production and endorphins can help you in at least two ways:one they make you feel better, happier, and two they can also help reduce pain levels. Now, what sort of exercise should I "indulge" in? I've done a little reading and have shortlisted some possibilities like running, weight training, yoga and aerobics. Looking at the list of options, running would be the least expensive as there is little cost involved.I'm always looking for new ways to motivate myself and I have found that reading new material and always finding new information about women's fitness, keeps me highly motivated.

Mexican forest

What can be the most natural Colony of the world was discovered recently in a Mexican forest. The ingredients? Spit of the chewed monkey and upon the leaves.
According to a paper in the application of this month primates of the newspaper, the masculine Mexican monkeys of the spider chew the leaves of three aromatic plants: the tree of the pea of Alamos, that has fragant leaves and flowers, a flourishing tree of the trompeta, and wild celery. The ritual, that typically takes anywhere to divide 30 seconds for two minutes, was judged monkey self-anointing by Matthias Laska, professor of zoology in the university of Linkoping in Sweden. Laska and its colleagues observed the behavior 20 times in two masculine monkeys of the spider that were part of a group free-ranging extended in the Silvestra fauna of Park of tropical Flora and in Veracruz, Mexico. The investigators determined the monkeys always applied as soon as a species of the plant simultaneously. The use was routine, not unlike of a man who regularly spritzes in the desodorisante or Colony. In most of cases, the arm that did not maintain the material of the scent-bearing was carried out overflow or grasped a branch on the animal, Laska and his team wrote.
Whereas this one is the first one disclosed the case of such behavior in wild Mexican monkeys of the spider, the similar routines have been stained between the masculine and feminine monkeys of capuchin, the monkeys of the owl, other monkeys of the spider and lemurs. In most of these cases, the scientists speculated that pure of the leaf mash could have been used to attenuate topical infections of the skin or to reject insects. Laska and his team, nevertheless, found that of the plants used by the Mexican monkeys of the spider, only the wild celery is known to have insect-repelling of compound and of characteristic anti-fungal properties. The other of the plants simply good scent. The scientists, therefore, concluded that one same-to grease can play a role in the context of the social communication, to indicate of the social state or possibly to increase the attraction sexual. That is to say, the monkeys could make it for he himself basic use Colony of the people of the reasons. Whereas chemistry behind this continues being a mystery, the scents can mimic those of the fragant, natural steroids of primate, that are presumed to act like pheromones sex-that they stimulate.
Laska lead a previous study that found the spider that the monkeys particularly are equipped in smelling outside towards such scents. But all the monkeys do not wish to smell like the flowers and the celery.
Mary Baker, junior instructor of the anthropology in the university of Rhode Island, monkeys observed of capuchin that apply to the citric fruit and pures of the leaf of the tobacco to their bodies. Christina Campbell, scientist in the institute of Cotsen of the Archaeology in the university of California in Los Angeles, observed he himself behavior in monkeys black-given of the spider in Panama. Campbell said the news of the discovery that I agree generally with (the new ones) results, but she has still not eliminated other possible reasons of the scent rubbing. I think that the behavior can be a certain class that indicates, although they do not convince to me, of her said. Also I ask myself if it can work to stimulate or to clean the gland that rubs the mixture of the mixture plant. The future studies of the hopes of Laska will solve such questions on the fragant ritual.

I’ve noticed

I’ve noticed this both with myself and when talking to other people about their relationships. When I’m dating someone I need to think of what it would feel like for me to be in the other person’s shoes, to try and flip the situation and see how I’d feel about it.Too often I’d take things for granted, as if she’d always be there no matter what I did. I was obviously proven wrong. It made me open my eyes and realize how fragile she and a relationship in general is. I can only hope and pray that some day, I’ll be given a second chance.

Vista

Microsoft's operating system that is due for a release to consumers at the end of next month. While they hit the positive aspects of Vista like the graphical user interface and networking improvements, they also grumble on some bad things such as the backup feature and in my mind the most important - the high price. Will I be purchasing Vista when it comes out? Nope - I'll wait until I need a new computer then it'll just come installed on the new computer.

I wanna HP DC!!

WOW!Ted post about him giving away 10 brand new HP 6 megapixel digicams, and photo printers to go with it! All this for the PPP posties for this Christmas!Everyone have a chance to get it.
Why do I want a brand new HP 6 megapixal digital camera and photo printer? Why do I need these items?Yes,I REALLY want this new digicam because I am a self-proclaimed photo-taking freak! I would just take pictures of anything, anywhere, anytime! Of course, not all of the pictures I took were published on my blog. And just think, with an awesome new camera, I could take some amazing new digital photos that might just rock your socks off!I know the new HP camera makes digital photography easy for even those of us that are not camera geeks. I do rather hope that they kind folks at HP will give me a camera so that my family might have a digital record of the happy occasion.I know next year is going to be better and receiving an HP digital camera and printer to document that year would be a wonderful way to start! It was late at night and I did not have a good camera on hand, so I told him that the images will only be available the following day.I'm about to gain some of my time back with the end of one of my jobs. With that free time, wouldn't it be great for me to get back into my creative endeavors? Remember the pleasure that my past works have brought to others? Imagine the fun and wonderment that I can do with digital photography.

Abel tasman National Park

After our last night up in the Abel tasman National Park we headed back on the road on our drive to Picton. It was from here we caught a water taxi out to the little Eco Retreat we are at now. This place is amasing!!!! It's only accessible by boat as it's right in the heart of the Marlborough Sounds which are right up at the North part of the South Island. The water taxi took around 20 minutes to get here and we pulled up into our little place in paradise. It's literally a little lodge in a tiny bay called Lochmara. It is absolutely beautiful. Loads and loads of land to explore with hammocks everywhere and the only sound you can hear is the birds and the tiny waves that lap up from the little bay. We have eaten brekkie each morning right next to the water looking out at the green green hills of the Marlborough Sounds. We couldn't ask for a more peaceful place. We came here to just relax and chill out after a busy week or so on the road and that's exactly what we are doing. We had a lie in this morning which beleive me is a luxury as we are usually up very early and out and about. Then after breakfast over looking the water we went for a walk around the property to explore all the acres of land. They've done fab things with this place, there are hammocks everywhere you look with amasing views out over the water, there's an avary, a Lizzard Inn and even a Glow Worm Gully which we're gonna head off an explore after dark tonight!!! Rob went for a little Kayak (yep I stayed well away after the capsizement in Thailand!!!) and I sat in a hammock right by the water reading my book. We have just come back from a stint in the stunniny Spa looking over the bay. This is a true little haven!!! The Lodge has access routes to the Queen Charlotte Walking Track, one of the many walking tracks in New Zealand so tomorrow morning we are going to head off and walk a bit of the track around to the next Bay where we can grab a bite to eat and a bevvie in the little pub on the water and then we can get a water taxi back. Then it's back here for a massage and another Spa before settling down for our last night in the Lodge. Oh it's such a hard life!!!! Later tonight we are gonna head out 1st to see the glow worms and then up to the observatory - a little patch of grass right on top of the hill behind the lodge where we can swing on the hammocks to our heats content whilst we watch the many many stars in the sky .

Black tea

Black tea has one of the most complex aromas of anything we eat or drink. It starts out as simple, green-tasting young leaves; then the combination of enzyme action and heat generates hundreds of volatile molecules. Among the more prominent aromas are the flowery and fruity ones; roses, orange flowers, violets, apricots, and raspberries are in there, along with fresh-crushed leaves, dried hay, and caramel. German flavor chemists recently identified a previously unknown note: a molecule that also contributes to the characteristic sweet aroma of oats. Something for tea lovers to sniff for and enjoy.
In the course of their analysis, the chemists also discovered a new reason for the traditional practice of brewing black tea in a preheated teaot with water just off the boil. High-temperature brewing does the best job of extracting aroma compounds from the tea leaves, but it also generates even larger quantities of certain aromatics than were in the leaves to begin with! It may do so by breaking off small, aromatic portions from much larger molecules. By contrast, we brew green teas in water far below the boil (around 150 degrees F, 65 degrees C) to preserve their more delicate, simple aroma and color.

Last day

Last October I read a report about a kind of Asian pear that I'd never heard of--and then this last weekend I found it in the 99 Ranch Market in nearby Milpitas. It's different, delicious, and worth trying. All European pears are varieties of the species Pyrus communis. Asian pears are varieties of one or two different species that have variously been called Pyrus pyrifolia, Pyrus ussuriensis, and now usually Pyrus serotina. Most of the Asian varieties grown in North America were developed in Japan, have crisp, juicy, off-white flesh, a round, apple-like shape, often a russet skin, and a distinctive aroma that to me seems both flowery and slightly alcoholic. Alcohol (ethanol) is in fact one of their characteristic chemical components. The flavor is refreshing and heady at the same time.

what a weekend

Well, what a weekend! On Friday evening, I burned rubber to make the last train to this course an hour out of Munich (with a very bad cold). I just knew I had to go. It was a breathing therapy course. The theme was "How and where can I find security within myself?". Intense. It was so intense, and I am so full of new perceptions, ideas, feelings, even pretty radical ones that seem to flip my world and me inside out. The four two-hour sessions were journeys into my body, my breath, my psyche, the whole gamut. As is apparently typical for first-timers, I found the whole thing really challenging. We were a group of 12, plus teacher, all sitting on simple stools in a circle, candles in the middle to help warm the large room. With our eyes shut, we followed the teacher's instructions on where to bring our inner eye, what part of our body to fill with light, how to feel the body's mind, energy flow, our breath. I am having a hard time writing about it, because the course was in German. I cannot find the words in English so easily.

life sure does keep moving on

Well, life sure does keep moving on. I mean, I didn't see everybody freeze out on the street when I finally put my foot down and told the ex/? that I was done with this chapter in my life, and with a degree of open anger I have rarely managed with him. I did it! And people kept walking by my window, some laughing, some looking as dreary as I did before I made the call (...yes, you would understand why it was over the phone if you were so unlucky as to know what the last months have been like. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't take any of it back, sort of). I feel a little sad now, but the hardest part is over. I am not that young, and some things are only making sense to me now which I am sure folks ten years my junior grasped in their sleep. Ah it's fantastic to be alive! And by the way, that is not me up their grinning. I am not that old. That's David Richo, the author of books I recommend wholeheartedly. My current favourite is the one about the 5 givens of life, and the happiness we find in embracing them. Sound far-fetched? Cuz it is only at first.

Aerobic training

Which is better? Aerobic training (long distance running, stints on the Stairmaster) or anaerobic training (weight training & short intense conditioning work)

I've been asked this question hundreds if not thousands of times. First I'll give what I think is best and then I will talk about whether what I think is best even matters.

I my own professional opinion and from my experiences I believe a combination of strength training exercises (with free weights, machines, or bodyweight) and high intensity anaerobic exercise (e.g. Sprinting, running up hills, or stairs etc... have yielded the best results for me and the people I've worked with. I'll take it a step further by just looking at what the elite athletes do. The first thing that comes to my mind when it comes to ideal body composition (low body fat levels) and weight loss are long distance runners and sprinters. Marathoners run and workout for what seems like forever. One hour runs 4 to 6 times a week are the norm for many of them. Combine that with strength training (which many won't do because they're too tired and over trained from running) and you're working out almost everyday. Sprinters on the other hand use short intense workouts to build their speed. Many sprint 2 to 4 times a week for about 30-45 minutes and strength train 2-4x a week for about 30-45 minutes. Many times it looks as if they're not even training hard because they rest a while between their sprint sets.

SUPER FAST DIESEL TRUCKS GETTING 25 MPG

I am rather interested in Diesel Performance as I have driven a few diesel cars in my time. I am seriously thinking about a diesel car the next one I get. Diesel performance can make any pickup truck get great mileage and make big powerYou can now get diesel car/truck engines to pump out up to 700+ hp. There are chipping systems, turbos and other solutions to tweak yer diesel to get the most out of it both performance and mileage wise. And smoking idjits in petrol cars is always fun as well. Hell an Audi diesel did pretty damn well at Le Mans this year which is pretty durn neat.Diesel trucks like chevy diesel performance
, dodge diesel performance
cummins and ford diesel performance
powerstrokes come with good power from the dealer, but with a few modifications like performmance chips & tuners, exhaust systems , air intakes, propane and nitrous, you can have daily driver trucks with 500-800hp and over 1500 ft lbs of torque and still get 20-25mpg on the highway it's simply incredible! Dieselsmoke is one of the largest and most respected names in the diesel performance industryIt has a lot of features and, if you want to get me something for Christmas, this would be the ticket!

physical improvements

To make physical improvements, you need to work your body harder than usual. This is referred to as the overload principle. As your body becomes more conditioned, you need to increase the frequency, intensity, or time of your workouts in order to continue improving your fitness level.
Frequency: How often you exercise. For beginners, consider starting with 2-3 sessions per week.
Intensity: How hard you exercise. For example, the pace you walk or run, the amount of weight you lift, or your heart rate count.
Time: How long you perform an activity. "Time" can also refer to the number of sets or repetitions you perform in weight training.

Hotel Reservations

Christmas Holidays are here and it is the perfect time to get together with the family. So, while you are sitting at the christmas table, and discuss your travel holidays for next year!Oh!!!I found another great site that offers Hotel Reservations at a discount price of up to 70% off the normal prices.they have hotel room listings for cities from all over the world, and not just the United States. If you’re planning a trip to Italy, it’s simple, just choose the country of Italy in the drop down list on the main page, and a new page called Italy Hotels will come up where you can then select what cities you plan on staying in and view the various rooms that are available during your holiday time period, and even learn some information about the Country and city that you plan to stay in. and you can book them right then and there too. So I like using Hotel Reservations.com to find the cheapest rate for a non-smoking king size bed. There's nothing worst after a long day on the road than finding your bed smoking. If you’d like to view hotel rooms and prices for, and then go one to view a selection of rooms available on the particular dates you’ve choosen. Plus, as I said, you’ll also have access to interesting information about the Country that you’re planning to visit too.Next year I plan to go somewhere nice and sunny for winter. I have just had it with Vancouver's unpredictable weather and its penchant for rain and snow. I need to find a beautiful beach where I can tan in peace.Once you plug in your destination and dates, you can sort your results by price, hotel name, best value, and quality. I found a room for my birthday at the Wynn Las Vegas for $299.

Arcade games

Arcade games, historically, emerged as early as the late 1920's where you could find theme parks which combined mechanical form of gaming machines and a great fun atmosphere. This was the beginning of modern gaming. The first pinball machines appeared in the and were mainly coin-operated. To play the game, you sloted in your coin or token and when that run out the game ended. You then had to purchase further tokens if so desired. Now, most pinball machines use solid state electronics to operate. Scores and bonuses are all electronically controlled.

In the seventies, one of the major arcade games manufacturers Atari, which was started by Ted Dabney and Nolan Busnell dominated the arcade games industry. With viral marketing and the sheer addictive nature of these games, - including The Pacman series, Donkey Kong, Pong and Space Invaders - many video arcade game machines sprouted up all over cities especially popular social hangouts such as bars, college campuses, supermarkets, movie theaters and gambling houses. In fact, te presence of these machines in seedier places rather led to a dip in its popularity as increasing people perception of it changed. The advanced gaming console technology also contributed to the decline in the popularity of these slot machines.

With this decline in fortunes, dedicated arcade games businesses started to suffer and many had to close down or diversify. Diversification involved offering other attractions such as rides with arcade games being only a small part of the business and at least offering arcade lovers to still indulge in their passion. Most of these centers are so different, they are no longer what they used to be.

We actually made some progress

We actually made some progress! we finished painting the kitchen!! Brant, myself and his very kind Aunt Janice painted the kitchen on Saturday, really they did a lot of painting and I tried to look busy - but I was really just sipping some wine out of a paper cup! heheheh. No, I helped! Seriously! But man, painting is hard work and it's tiring! And we have the whole house to do! Boy would it be nice to be RICH and hire someone to do the work for us!
The color of our kitchen is similar to Terracotta as Janice pointed out and it happens to look really really good with Royal Blue (thanks to seeing the painters tape up against it!) so We will do all of our kitchen accents in a Royal Blue color!

We will start painting the living area this week or next - Brant and I will have to try out a few different ways, our ideas about how it should look are a little different but I am sure we can compromise (I hope!).

I took some pictures last night and I will try and post them soon, well as soon as we get the tape off.

Yesterday we had a fun filled day cleaning out the apartment! Boy did that suck. So glad to be out of there! Then we went to IKEA and I bought a bunch of Royal Blue stuff for the kitchen (yea!!) and we also got this cool track lighting for the entry way and a new light fixture for the kitchen! They both look SO AWESOME! I cannot wait to see what this place will look like when it's all done! We got a ton of great ideas at IKEA and it's cheap- yes, it probably won't be stuff we would keep forever! But for now, it's fun and it looks GOOOOOD! so yea Team US!

Drag Racing Fanatics

I came across this video , these are Drag Racing Clips of a show called pink , as the name suggests if you lose you hand over the pink slip of your ride to the winner. Can't waiting until then? Well, punch your accelerator on this link for your Drag Racing Clips! And we're not talking about men running in dresses and high heels here! I love seeing the emotion people have for their cars. People are completely addicted to their rides. The thought of losing it should be scary which is what makes PINKS interesting.

what happens

We (mostly him and his brothers and dad) will be hunting on their land. I will take my shot at it and see what happens. I'm actually just hoping it might snow or has snowed! Such a girl thing to say! Being from Texas I usually have to go on a vacation just to see snow.. so it's nice that we can go up and just visit for a few days where it MIGHT be snowing!

cross my fingers

so it looks like we wont be getting any snow during our short stay in the mighty state of WI. I will continue to cross my fingers!
We will talk to you all when we get back next week. I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend! Thanksgiving is right around the corner! I hope you all can be thankful for all the good things you have in your life!

cooler weather

Brant and I took our spoken trip to WI were we encountered much cooler weather. It was welcomed by us both, as it has been relatively warm here in TX. Friday we hung around the house and ran some errands and chilled with the family. Brant's 3 younger brothers (Nathan, Kyle and Seth) all came home so we hung out with them as they arrived. Brant got our gear ready for hunting on Saturday morning and Brant and Nathan did some target shooting, I tried, but I missed :-(.

Brant and I got up around 530 on Sat. morning and trekked out into the dark, cold woods. Nathan had already gotten up, hell that kid must have left at 4 am. Brant and myself, his 3 younger brothers and some other hunters were staked out in different places in the woods sitting, waiting, freezing, no talking, no moving... Brant and I stayed out in the woods until about 930 or so (I think). We were sitting there for a while and didn't see anything, I was actually doing good (he said I am more still that Nathan :-) ), not talking much, and not moving. It was really pretty - our view- snow covered some of the branches and it was just still and quiet. I kept wondering if a bear would come up behind us and eat our little heads off- thankfully that didn't happen.

Keystroke Recorder

Do want to keep a watchful eye on your kids Internet activity?YES,You cann't jumping up to hide in the closet when your son heard you.maybe you are not sure what it does to him,t’s something we don’t like and we decided yesterday that he is not allowed to play it again. Right now it’s an indefinite time period in the frame of forever, but we’ll see.You are seriously considering getting this keystroke recorder software from SpectorSoft. The keystroke capture works by recording every key that is pressed while the software is on, then logging it where it can then be accessed at a later time. This allows parents to make sure their kids are not involved in any risky instant messaging, Myspace activity, or that they’re not giving away important details such as phone numbers or addresses.check it out!

How on earth

How on earth did I manage to kick the jackass out of my life? The answer is in the question...I got to the point where I could admit he was, can be, is a jackass...too much, too often for me. Now look - I'm a blue butterfly.
Get this, my hair smells like smoke again! I smell like I've been somewhere social. When was the last time? Honestly, I'd guess at about last spring...around when I quit smoking and cut back to one beer a week, then every two weeks, then hardly ever. Tonight I had wine, a cocktail, a few cigarettes. I'm tired. Played two concerts today. Two. One in a prison, and one in a church:) And they were both moving. Cheesy word, I know, but I was moved innerlich (German for in the inside, somehow). Playing Shostakovich Chamber Symphony for male prison inmates, together with children who can really play their instruments...that was moving. Sitting in a (surprisingly warm) huge dome-shaped church, lit mellow with candles and red lights, enjoying the glow and lilt of a simple Christmas carol, accompanying a soprano silk that wrapped my heart and sent it soaring, the invisible things suddenly again so soul-level colourful, stained glass shimmering innerlich, alles richtung Gott, the bigger, the biggest things in life...that was moving. There were butterflies back when they were building that church, or when that guy pulled the trigger oder?

Creative speakers

I have Mozart blaring from my Creative speakers. It's so much fun to get into his music just like that, for fun. And fun to imagine the look on Wolfgang's face if he were beamed into my living room (in his white wig and tights of course) to see me sitting facing this glowing flat thing, with his music coming from NOWHERE. I think he would have a heart attack, or be convinced he has gone insane: his inner ear has become the air he breathes! Then I would do that rescue breathing thing on him, and save his life. Then I would sit him down on my comfy brown sofa and nurse him to sanity - or rather my version of it:) and see if he complies (by then his Symphony would be over and we'd settle for the noise of cars that would freak him out just as much). This fantasy is getting very scary. I have a picture on my wall of a group of men, a few of the old greats - composers, standing casually in modern dress. It is weird to see Bach's legs in dress pants, to see the bulge of his male member and remember the guy had a trillion kids somehow didn't he. Wolfgang is wearing addidas sneakers, 80's snug levi's. I am getting scared. I just finished reading a great book by Richard Powers called The Time of our Singing. One of the main characters is a physicist obsessed with time and how it goes in no direction, and in every...including backwards. I didn't completely understand, but I can recommend the book wholeheartedly.
Christmas is getting closer and closer...yes. It is. Jesus, are you visiting from the past or the future? Wanna come over for a glass of red cuz in the meantime you could clarify a few things for me. A nice guy named Wolfgang Mozart will be here and he's great fun!

a bunch of stores

Brant and I hit a bunch of stores- our latest thing: looking at furniture we can't afford. It's such a waste of time but it's so FUN!

We got our Christmas tree, stockings, ornaments, lights, I made a wreath! We didn't hardly stop all weekend. I mowed the backyard and raked it- there were so many leaves I actually got a blister from raking so much. It was nice to be outside and boy does our yard look good!

Brant and I went to Galveston on Saturday to run and see my parents. We ran 13 or 14 miles- we don't know for sure yet, but it was the longest run yet. Talk about pain! Brant's foot is bothering him and my whole body just ached. So, we'll see. I don't know about the plan for this week of running or this weekend. I'm not sure if it's a longer run or a shorter one? My fingers are crossed that it's shorter.

Do you need financial aid? Those nice people at FAFSA online have developed a site to help you get the free financial aid that you need. start painting

We did start painting the living room last Sunday and have hopes of finishing it up this weekend. It's such a slow process! We have a lot of great ideas about what we want to do but with it being Christmas and all, the money seems to be going a lot of other places... like to the new boots I want.. hah!

anyhow, on a lighter note- I think I may have accidentally caught a virus on my work computer. Now the IT guy is going to have to come and fix it and I'm going to have to explain why I look at all the gossip websites when I have a break. GREAT! ;-)

Secure Your Data Files

What's to protect our valuable documents?I didn't know until I recently learned of document security available through pinionsoftware.com.Their Pinion Receiver program works similar to Adobe Acrobat's Reader in that the valuable documents or other intellectual property can view and work with it in the original application but within a controlled only environment, and It's also can Erase Hard Drive to protect you Data Security. check it out!

Home Security Systems--LaserShield

I am looking into several security systems. I have found one that has quick and easy installation and relatively low monthly cost: the LaserShield Security System. By easy install, I mean there is no technician to come and put holes in the walls. You simply plug the base unit into the wall socket and an existing phone line, and then position the wireless motion detector unit at a door and/or window. Once armed, the system will call the monitoring service who in turn contacts you. Since one system covers up to 1200 square feet, we could expand to a 2nd system for the upstairs, and link them. It also includes a keychain alarm to enable or disable the system, along with a panic button. While the $19.95 monthly fee is cheaper than other services. It’s even pet friendly with special attachments to block out your animal from setting it off. If you're interested in the LaserShield kit, check it out!

Well

Well, it’s not even technically finals week and I already have 2 and a half finals done out of 5! I’ve already finished my photojournalism final as well as my data structures project. I just did the first half of my Spanish final - a five minute oral test. The only final I’m truly worried about is my assembler final as it is a group project and we haven’t made much of any progress on it yet. But we’re going to work on it today then tomorrow and we’ll hopefully have it done by the end of the weekend.

Contact Lenses

I wear a combination of contact lenses and glasses. By this I mean when I’m working
or going out, or planning on driving somewhere I always have my contacts on, but often in the evening when there’s little chance that I’ll be going out I’ll switch over to my glasses if I’ve been wearing my contacts all day.Yes I know there are contacts you can wear day in and day out but I haven’t tried them yet. I am however thinking of trying them.I was visiting Lenssurvey.com earlier today and their line of Acuvue Bifocal caught my eye. Plus I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Acuvue Bifocal from my friends that wear them. It's a better way of correcting astigmatism,Instead of having to wear clunky glasses or irritating rigid contacts patients now have the option of using comfortable contact lenses. Focus Toric contact lenses come in 3,000 prescriptions to ensure that the specific prescription needs of each astigmatic patient is addressed.

i say HIGH

After being struck down by HIGH fever and when i say HIGH i really mean HIGH , i am almost back on track , i am to be precise suffering from paratyphoid fever (confirmed by a blood culture and sensitivity test) a slightly milder form of typhoid fever caused due to consuming infected food or water, i suffered from paratyhoid fever in 2003 also that time it was much worse with my temperature even going upto 106 F , but thankfully i was diagnosed pretty early this time and the fever seems to have subsided within a week only although i wouldnt want to risk a relapse which would be frightening, so i have got to support my antibiotics in fighting my infection so gotta rest , will review some sites soon ,

OHH...Several of our relatives have birthday this month, but We’re not preparing for this...So I went looking for greeting cards online.Everyone that people respond to email much faster than a phone call or snail mail invitation, and now I found American Greetings. They have a large selection of happy birthday cards in stock. Some are free, and some are available only to subscribers of their service. After looking at the quality and variety of cards they have I think it would be worthwhile becoming a member.I was surprised to find that not only do they have a variety of different types of birthday greeting cards from funny, or animated, Family, belated, Over the Hill, to serious and mushy, plus there’s even ones for specific Birthdays such as a 40th.It’s pretty much a one stop shop for birthdays. They also have Birthday invitations, printable birthday cards. They offer a free reminder service and calendar so you’ll never had to send a belated birthday card again. It’s really easy to send an e-card. Simply pick out the ones that interest you. click on the card of your choice, take a look at it when it comes up on your screen, and then click on the Personalize and send button. You can even change the font colors in your personal greeting if you’d like. You’ll get a one month free trial when you become a member. If you send a free ecard yourself you will be asked to provide some personal information such as your name, birthdate and email address--that information will not be distributed to other parties and you can opt-out of receiving any newsletters from American Greetings during this sign up process.enjoy it!

damn Cold

I'm really trying hard to ignore this cold in hopes that it will just go away, but it seems to be sticking around. I also don't want to use it as an excuse not to go work out but I am prone to getting bronchitis and am scared if I push too hard I will and then be sick for much longer. I really want to work out today though. I guess I'll just take it slow and only do what I feel I can do.

I haven't felt good today

I haven't felt good today and it seems when I feel the worse, the kids act like the most terrible little brats EVER. I totally lost my cool with Sam tonight and now I feel like crap about it. It doesn't take much since my stress level is already so highly elevated with him. He just keeps pushing it and pushing it. Hannah was no help either. She just gets him all wound up and then when I get upset she's able to settle down while he's not. Everyone is tucked in their beds now and I'm not far behind!

Online Calendar Reminder Service

Since I'm not in the holiday spirit today I might as well talk about something in the holiday spirit to get my spirits up, lol. Since Christmas is coming soon it's starting to be time to be festive again and the folks at AmericanGreetings.com have a pretty Free online calendar to make ease of use and ability to help remember birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. There are lots of cool features there. You can customize what holidays show up in your calendar. You can add personal events, and you can receive reminders via email or cell phone text message too.You might have to register, aka giving your name, birthday, email address, but they have confidentiality policy so your information is safe.Lastly if you're interested in this and more they have newsletter option on registration, it's optinal and you can unsubscribe at anytime.enjoy it.

stupid ruling

This stupid ruling that made us lose our NY/LA stations is really pissing me off. I almost missed Medium tonight because I lost all my my timers when the stations went away. Fortunately CSI: New York was a repeat and I only missed the first 10 minutes of Medium, but this sucks. Thursday was always tricky even with both coasts to tape from. Looks like if I can't watch Supernatural live on the antennae, then I'll miss it totally. At least I can watch Ugly Betty on ABC's website. I really wish television would go totally "on-demand" and you could watch what you want when you want.

two guys

You see, there were these two guys, they were in jail in Dubuque Iowa. The one guy, Michael Kelley Jr, 29, in for attempted murder, was swapping stories with the other guy, inmate Jamie Brimeyer, 34. Kelley asked Brimeyer about his facial scar. Brimeyer started to tell the story of how he’d been stabbed in the cheek by an unknown assailant in 2005. Kelley realized that he was the one who had stabbed him and recalled the incident so well that he corrected some of Brimeyer’s recollections. As a result Brimeyer ended up reporting Kelley as his former assailant, and Kelley is now charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on top of his attempted murder charges.

freak out

I'm starting to freak out about the first of the year bills that sneak up after Christmas. I hate having to worry about money all the time. I know that finding a job is in the near future. I'm just trying to hold off as long as I can. I don't want to go back to work. *whine* I just don't see any other way though. Hopefully, it will just be temporary.

my folks today

I had a very amusing conversation with my folks today!
My dad was doing his normal joking routine where he said he'd buy me a husband. And I said, "What would I do with a husband?"
And he said, "Keep it in the fridge but take him out for show when you have vistors?"
So I said, "Dad, if you buy me a husband. I'm going to you use him for sex."
My mom starts cracking up and my dad looks shocked at me! I said, "Yep. Sex burns up a lot of calories which means I won't have to exercise!"
Dad: "Really?"
Mom: *still chuckling*
Jo: "Yip, so I'd have sex TWICE a day."
Dad: *wide eyes* Twice a day? And for how long must it be effective!
Jo: "Well, at least an hour each go!!"
Dad: "Riiiiiiighhhhhhhht."
Mom: "Oh, thats unimaginable for your father." *snicker*
Jo: *laughs her ass off* THAAAAAAAANKS mom! :P Sheesh!
Dad: Ha. Ha. Ha. *serious look*
Jo: "Seriously dad though, when I start having sex will you buy me condoms?"
Dad: "You have no shame..."
Jo: "What... I'm pooorrr!!"
Mom: "Oooooooooooh, he has those free condoms the governments makes him give out."
Jo: *mocking gasp* I don't want FREE condoms. I have expensive taste!!
Mom: *snorts* Picky. What, do you want the coloured ones?"
Jo: Yes. I want them blue. And to taste like blueberries.
Dad: *shakes head* I don't believe it...

I be the fool

Won’t I be the fool for not getting it done earlier when I should have?
I can’t help it though. I just don’t feel well lately and the thought of going out there and doing all that stuff is too much for me right now. If I don’t feel better soon there’s a chance that a good portion of it won’t get done properly either. Oh my husband will do his share but he doesn’t really know everything that has to be done. He always helps me but I’m the team leader in the garden.

Fingers crossed that the weather holds for a few days more so I can get the gumption to get out there and do the work that needs to be done!

god believes in you

Even if god believes in you, there is no reason why you must or should reciprocate.
You have asked a question that is inherently in conflict.
Why (just the question part)
I (meaning you a sentient being of your own force and control in essence a god).
should(implies constraingin, containing, or directive force, control over yourself a god) The phrase "believe in god" is just a red herring. The question is already in conflict as you question why you should submit your godlike force. Whether that submission is provided to another person/god or the force of gravity or to an unknown invisible hand created by the Einstein/God to control the cosmos is all a red herring that ultimately can only lead to your enslavement. Rule thy self to avoid slavery!

planning to launch an interactive service

Al-Jazeera were planning to launch an interactive service. They decided against it when they realised if they told their viewers to press the red button, half their viewers would blow up.And to think Sir David Frost is actually working with the channel.

electronic gadget and Christmas?

Just thinking of all the stuff that's coming out in time for the busy holiday season, like the new 2G Ipod Nano's, or the Microsoft Zune, or the Wii, PS3, or the classics like the DS Lite or an Xbox360 and was wondering which one you guys would like to get Me, I'm torn since I want a Xbox360 but I a) don't have a high-def TV yet and b) don't have the ability to play online games due to the connection at my school dorm. I'm not upgrading my computer since I'm going to wait until the new releases in the summer but maybe I might look into a portable system instead, maybe a DS, or maybe even a PSP with a little homebrew.

California DUI Breath Test Defenses
Insufficient or broken observation period -no continuous observation for entire 15 minutes before first breath sample (e.g. Officer attempts to include transportation time as part of required observation period, goes to his trunk and/or walks around before removing you from police car, or you were left alone at anytime prior to taking the test -e.g. used restroom or telephone or placed in holding cell/room).

During those 15 minutes before the test, you burp, belch or have slight regurgitation of gas that is relatively quiet.

Vomiting, belching within 15 minutes of test - no rinsing of mouth, or inadequate deprivation period before retest.

You may not be a proper subject for breath testing. You have a physical problem or health limitation:
gastric reflux, hiatal hernia or intestinal problem (e.g. Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease, Irritated Bowel Syndrome, or Acid Reflux Syndrome) diagnosed and treated before date of arrest;
dental condition (e.g. gum disease/gingivitis/pockets around roots, dentures or bridgework which may trap mouth alcohol and contaminate a breath machine sample); or
respiratory problem (e.g. asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Your behavior or actions do not match test results (e.g. shown by independent witnesses).

The breath test room or circuitry has a problem (e.g. Radio Frequency Interference from a cell phone, officer's radio, copy machine or other equipment with surge capabilities) which may cause machine to give artificially high reading; smoking in or near machine; shared power supply with heater or other appliance - must be dedicated "clean" electrical source; or recently painted walls or trim).

You have had recent environmental exposure to volatile fumes (lacquer, gasoline, paint, dry cleaning fluids or even 409) which have cumulative reading, causing chemical interference/falsely elevated result.

Air bag defenses - "the Tyndall effecf' - diffusion of light; propellant exposure; cut lips; lung and airway irritation & fluid build-up from caustic gas propellant.

Video tape refutes the high reading, supports sobriety.

High test result, yet you never urinate for 3 to 4 hours or more - physiological impossibility.
(......)
hopefully reminding yourself that you should never need him. ^_^

talking about snow

I’ve been talking about snow in Spokane, but it looks like we may get some snow here in Seattle this weekend. I’m supposed to be traveling back to Spokane tomorrow, but apparently there’s a winter storm heading this way, and it may dump in the passes again.I guess I’ll just have to get up tomorrow and check the report. I ought to go today since the weather isn’t that bad, but I have plans for this evening, so phhht. Fortunately, working from home means I can delay going back for a couple days and just work from here if I have to. Ah winter travel, gotta love it.

my dad's watching

I was just in the other room and on the news my dad's watching I caught the tail end of a report about a woman that spiked her husband's meatballs with marijuana so that he would be fired from his job as a cop and not be hurt on the job. It worked, he was fired, but apparently a judge is saying that he should be reinstated - department seems to be undecided so far.

a few presents

I've got Michael a few presents, but I am waiting on him to tell me exactly which digital camera he wants. Normally I would feel confident in just buying it without checking with him first, but I can't. He has his Sony now, but he wants something small and easy to just throw in his pocket on the way out the door, yet it has all the bells and whistles of his big one. UGH! I want him to just give me the SKU# so I can get it. At this rate he will get his Christmas present in March.

Saturday evening was spent the same way it usually is. Nine thousand boyz spent the night here and I did my usual of trying to get them to settle down. Around midnight I had enough so I pulled out Trivial Pursuit and had them all sit down and answer questions that even I can't answer correctly. We bent the rules and gave hints, and after 2hours I saw them starting to nod off and get tired. I started pulling out the pillows and sleeping bags and they were in dream land in less than 10 minutes. Michael and I spent the next two hours listening to music and talking. I think it was 4:30AM when my eyes finally closed for the day.

I woke up at noon today to a fairly quiet house. Most of the kids had already gone home (thank god for milk and cereal) and my boyz were playing on their computers. I started a load of laundry, had a glass of Carnation Instant Breakfast and lay back down in bed. I slept until 4:00PM! We ordered Outback Curbside to Go and had a nice dinner at home. Both boyz are on their Winter Break, so they both asked if a friend could spend the night. I said no, so J.R. went to his friend’s house for the night and Justo is hanging out without his brother around to bug him. Sandy is doing his laundry, and I'm just hanging out on my bed with my laptop. Sunday evening is my Manila office Monday so we're on IM's together working. Michael went to go meet up with his brother and give him his Christmas gift as he's going to be in So Cal for the holidays. I was invited, but I opted to just stay home and be lazy.

the trip

So I’m back home now,We didn’t really make any stops which helped a lot - the trip only took us about 5 hours. Which is amazing considering there were huge backups over the pass. The pass was closed right after we got through so they could do avalanche control. The road was a lot better than I thought it’d be - mostly just wet with slush in a few places.

PayPal suck!!

I’ve heard the horror stories from disgruntled users of PayPal but had ignored them - up until today. I woke up this morning to an email from PayPal stating that my account had been reduced to limited access due to my selling of a Sony PlayStation 3 console on eBay (for a mere $100 above the price I paid).
After being on hold for almost an hour, I determined that it would be in my best interest to cancel the transaction that the buyer had sent me (an eCheck that was uncleared) and have him send me a money order. This accomplished two goals. PayPal didn’t have to worry about a fraudulent transaction and I saved about $30 in processing fees that PayPal loves to charge its users.
After doing some research, it has been determined that anyone who sells a PlayStation 3 on eBay and uses PayPal as the method of receiving money will have their account reduced to limited access. This means that you cannot touch any funds within your PayPal account.
As of this post, I’m currently waiting for PayPal to grant me full access to my account - a process that is estimated to take up to 30 days. Which should be instantaneous given the fact that I’ve done all the required steps to regain access to my account.

the mad rush

the mad rush of holiday shopping has begun here at Casa de la Bug. In years past this usually means I put on combat boots, paint black lines on my face with grease, take a second mortgage out on my house and shove a stun gun in my pocket. I don’t know about where you are — but here in Tucson the shoppers can get down and dirty so you have to be prepared for battle.

This year I finally decided that instead of going out to the stores I’d stay my happy ass home and shop online for everything I needed. This has worked out purrrfectly and now I snicker at the parking lots full of crazy people as I drive by them in my blissed out state.

Going on vacation?

maybe I should move to Arizona?I’ll have to go visit Scottsdale Real Estate Services and see if I can find me a nice house. They specialize in fine properties. You should see some of the homes they have listed. Lovely.enjoy it!

sucked so bad

You guys today has sucked so bad it’s not even funny. This morning my mom went into the ER because she had really severe chest pains…luckily it wasn’t a heart attack. After all the testing that was done the doc thinks it was caused by stress. She’s home now and resting, they put her on some meds…keep her in your thoughts wouldja? She needs good ju-ju sent her way.

I ended up with a migraine slamming my ass to the floor early in the day and I’m just flat out miserable still. No amount of drugs are helping and I alternate between crying, wanting to vomit, and wishing for a swift death. I’m still not over it as we speak but I just need to vent. Misery loves company and I’m inviting you all over.

Need To Organize A Group?

Need To Organize A Group?Now,check out GroupLoop.com
What GroupLoop is, is almost simple to explain. It’s a way for a group to get together, organize, discuss, and plan their work, all from the convenience of one website or blog.and it's a place where you can share files, have discussions and post messages, have a calender to schedule meetings or to RSVP important dates.I’d also like to see an indicator there as to how much space the files are taking up, so that it’d be easier to know when you’re getting close to the limit.check out GroupLoop, you might just like it.

Kapersky Lab Antivirus

My friend in Italy just asked me about having a virus on his computer. I pointed him to a free open source anti virus program, but I later realized that I had made a mistake. It was way too difficult for him to download. He should have just gotten a purchased package like Kapersky Lab Antivirus.
It is a highly rated antivirus software in response time and detection rates. It also offers things like Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-RootKit, Anti-Hacker, Intrusion Detection, Firewall, Anti-Spam protection. That’s just about everything that people could need to protect their computer.
They also offer a great, but unique service on their website. It’s a Free Online Virus Scanner. It uses Microsoft’s ActiveX Technology to scan your computer. Yes, that does mean you have to use IE which makes this product suck.

On second thought, at least when you get a free antivirus program then you can’t complain about it being a crappy antivirus program.
