"jihad" car commercial upsets U.S. Muslims hmm.....hmm..

A car commercial proclaiming a jihad on the U.S. auto market and offering "Fatwa Fridays" with free swords for the kids is offensive and should not be aired, Muslim leaders said on Sunday.

The radio advertisement for the Dennis Mitsubishi car dealership in Columbus, Ohio, has "a whole jihad theme," said Adnan Mirza, director of the Columbus office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

"They are planning on launching a jihad on the automotive market and their representatives would be wearing burqas ... ," Mirza said. "They mentioned the pope in there and also about giving rubber swords out to the kiddies -- really just reprehensible-type comments."

Details of the radio ad, which has not yet been broadcast, have been reported in the local media, but officials at the dealership declined to comment about the content of the radio spot.

Two employees at the dealership said they had been deluged with calls about the commercial.

"The ad has has never been released, it is not out for public listening," said one employee who declined to give his name. He would not say whether the dealership had changed its mind about airing the commercial.

Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Motors Corp. could not immediately be reached for comment.

Mirza said several local radio stations had already rejected the ad and he hoped the controversy would convince the dealership to rethink its sales strategy.

He also said the Council on American-Islamic Relations would likely contact the dealer to "offer some kind of cultural or sensitivity awareness training."

Avoiding a void?

Far out, I dunno wassup lately, biological depression. Nothing absolutely nothing can take the gnawing feeling away. Smtg is gnawing at my soul, clutching my heart all the time. I feel so sad, jez so so down. Break up? Yeah it feels more intense but I know it's not the main driving force. I feel disconnected fr pple once again. Sigh, I hate this feeling, I wish it wld go away once n for all. Body attack is indeed my life line, it keeps my moods up. I dun wish 2 b a gym junkie, but I'm forced to. It's really weird!! this phenomenon, when did it set in, does d black dog belong in my family? WTF... work used 2 b satisfying but now i'm numb, drifting further away fr the sense of achievement. Why why why do I get BORED in the blink of an eye n retreat in my little world.

Hanging out at pubs/bar after work n getting trashed isn't fun nor cool 2 me, yet that seems to b the only way 2 clique w my colleagues. I neva get it, what's so fun abt getting drunk, losing all ur inhibitions, possibly embarrassing urself n regretting what u did when ur frens tell u the next day? It doesn't rain alcohol n I'd rather save up the $$ 2 spend. Am I too unique that it's difficult to find frens w similar interests? Maybe it's booze is a Western life style. Chefs or pple in the hospitality industry tend 2 b v fun loving. Mayb I dunno how 2 let loose or I give myself high expectations, from working in several hospitality establishmts, I find I'm kinda different from most pple there, I may get along betta with the older ones, those who r settled down. Saying i'm mature wld b a sweeping statement but i dunno, my days of getting high n clubbing r kinda over. Clubbing's only fun when I get picked up by guys, but even that can get boring. Everythg can unless I've become accustomed to it n it's become my comfort zone.

I'm finding life pretty meaningless again, nothing 2 really look 4ward to. Even if I was doing great at work, the achievement it brings me dies down. At least I feel betta after writing some of thots down. Hey partner, I love reading ur journals too, it keeps me company hehe. Go go let Bball motivate u at work n work motivate u at Bball : ) Am I making sense? well it's 246am, fukcing tired but it's been 2 weeks since I woke up feeling refreshed n had quality sleep. I'm tired, I shld b able 2 sleeeeeep like a PIG! Pls pls dear god, buddha, guanyin pusa, fairy godmother, aladdin, grant me good sleep n rest 2nite

Motorola to buy Symbol Tech for $3.9B

BIG NEWS FOR THIS!OH OH OH my Symbol~~~
Motorola has agreed to pay $3.9 billion in cash to acquire Symbol Technologies, the companies announced Tuesday.

Motorola (Charts will pay $15 a share for Symbol Technologies, the company best known for bar code scanning systems. The firm also makes handheld computers, wireless networking equipment and radio frequency identification systems.

The purchase price represents only a 2.2 percent premium from the Monday closing price. But shares of Symbol Technologies (Charts jumped 15.4 percent in trading Monday after a report of the possible deal in the Saturday edition of The Wall Street Journal.

Motorola said the acquisition should add to its earnings per share, in the first year following closing, excluding certain non-cash charges. It is expected to close in late 2006 or early 2007, after customary regulatory approval and the approval of Symbol's stockholders.

Shares of Symbol were trading more than 200 percent above the current purchase price back in March 2000, before the Internet stock bubble burst.

The company then suffered through a series of losses, results restatements and accounting scandals, along with turmoil in its leadership ranks.

It lost two chief executives in the face of questions about its accounting practices, with former CEO Tomo Razmilovic fleeing the country after he was charged with accounting fraud in 2004. He went first to his native Croatia, then reportedly to Sweden, where he continues to avoid prosecution.

The CEO credited with righting the ship, William Nuti, left the company in August 2005 to head competitor NCR (Charts, taking the spot that had been vacated when Mark Hurd left that company to head Hewlett-Packard (Charts.

Symbol reported its lowest earnings excluding special items in three years in 2005, although its earnings were up from year-earlier levels in the second quarter, matching the forecasts of analysts surveyed by earnings tracker First Call.

Motorola is the No. 2 manufacturer of wireless handsets after global leader Nokia (Charts. Besides NCR, Symbol Technologies' top competitors include Intermec (Charts and PSC.

'B' sample clean, suspicion still there

Olympic track champion Marion Jones obviously would have preferred that her positive "A" sample test for erythropoietin had not been leaked to the media last month. It did damage to her reputation that will not be repaired entirely by the news Wednesday she has been cleared of doping because the "B" sample analysis did not confirm the "A."

Aggressive Youzhny ousts Nadal at U.S. Open

It was an unusual way to acknowledge the crowd's postmatch applause — his racquet balanced on his head like a cap and then saluting army-style to the four sides of the stadium — but Mikhail Youzhny deserved to do anything he liked after his 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-1 upset of Rafael Nadal Wednesday at the U.S. Open.

No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal of Spain bends down to rest between points in the fourth set against unseeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia September 6, 2006 at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York. Youzhny won 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7/5), 6-1.

The Rubbish that is Spumoni's FOODDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Denny's $5 off order of $15 or more coupon expired today, cold and unused. It is a wretched feeling I am feeling , therefore I pledge to make full and complete use of any other Denny's coupons that I will hav the privilege of receiving in the mail.

*cough cough*
Been missing home a lot lately, and the people there. And the food. FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOODDDD!!!!!!!!!!!! Nevermind I'm really a Malaysian and skipped National Service, I still think of Singapore as home sweet home.
Should have studied harder in A Levels eh? Then I'll be...still in my palatial apartment in Jurong East, overlooking the ground floor from the 2nd storey. Of course, the true test of any choice is whether I would make the same choice again, given the same circumstances (knowingst to me) at the time.

0_0
Hmm, probably would have done the same thing. Which I feel is wrong now, as far as how things have turned out. Goes to show that you should always listen to what others have to say; just consider it at least.

But hey, if my life sucks from here on out (the definition of "sucks" is very broad) I'm grateful that I grew up exactly how I wanted, it was fun, and I wouldn't change a thing!

Let me send a message to the manufacturers of SPUMONI-flavored ice-cream. This bile is utter crap! I wasted a good $3 on this strange concoction. And I even felt sick immediately afterwards - that's cold hard proof of its cataclysmic failure. You know, on the box, you see strawberry, lime and chocolate. Mmmmmmmmm - how to go wrong, right? Aha! That's precisely where I got caught. It tastes nothing like what the picture depicts. It's like sweet high medicine, is what I can think of how to describe it. Oh my goodness..~~~Terrible, terrible...

You might think from reading my past journal entries that I'm an overwhelmingly negative person. Bitching for the sake of bitching. To be honest, I do not know why many things have an effect on me, or why I'm furious when people do not have the courtesy to push their shopping carts back. On the simplest level, maybe I'm too naive? People are the height of evolution, something like perfect monkeys. In other words, perfect animals. You can't put too much hope on animals to behave themselves, can you?

The obvious difference between people and animals is the human brain. This feeling of awareness - I think, therefore I am - is extremely powerful and unexplainable. Everyone is an individual - with a sense of purpose, or at least a sense of being alive. I cannot interview animals, but I'm guessing they do not think as much with their brains. If they did, maybe lions and tigers would have developed machine guns and we would be nothing but clam chowder. So, isn't it ironic that the sole advantage humans have over animals (besides having 4 fingers and a thumb) could well be the source of their extinction?

Perhaps this is the ultimate realization of the life cycle and balance in nature that even people cannot escape. For instance, how often have you witnessed chickens carrying out suicide missions against other chickens? Hmmm**** Does that sound rational to you? Yet, man is supposedly rational. And therein lies the source of bloodshed in the world today, in my opinion. People are dangerous because they are able to rationalize their actions. That's a little different than being rational. Everyone believes they are right, and have the right to do so and so, kill so and so, plunder so and so, spread so and so etc.

When it comes down to it, this world has become one drawn together by webs of control. Ideals --> motivation --> action --> control. Dialogue between opposing sides can only work if we are willing to look at ourselves as other people look at us. Otherwise, the entire argument is lost. Do not look at ourselves as we like to see ourselves. Rather, imagine what we look like in the eyes of other people. For peace to exist, all must be prepared to let go of their respective treasured commodities, be it women, oil or cows. Sorry, but spreading freedom through the barrel of a gun in the vain hope of securing oil is just as wrong as suppressing women in order to build up your little sex harem in that dust-cluttered tent.
