They just opened up a Sierra Gold near our house, so last night we decided to check it out. When we first walked in there was no hostess, so we just sat down wherever. The music was really loud, and we could barely hear each other speak. We waited and waited for a waitress to bring us a menu. After awhile, Michael gave up and went and got them himself. A bar waitress came and took our drink order, then the kitchen waitress came over and took our food order. I always hate when a place does a separate tab like that. It is a pain to pay two bills at the end of the evening. Needless to say, I was hating this place already.

I ordered a 6oz petite fillet, and Michael ordered the Ahi Tuna Seared Steak. My steak was by far the best, most tender, and perfectly cooked steak I have ever eaten. I do have some steak authority, because I have eaten in some of the 5 star steak houses around the US. So when I say this was the best, it is the best. I could cut it with my fork, and it melted in my mouth.

Harry Potter

The final Harry Potter novel sold over 8.3 million copies in the United States in its first day of publication. It deserves every one of the sales, and many more.
My wife and I purchased our copies, and one for our daughter, a few minutes after midnight on Saturday, at a Barnes and Noble a few minutes from our house (our son and his girlfriend bought their copies around the same time, in the city). When we left the store, kids with their copies were sitting in front, eagerly reading. I should have taken a picture.
I finished the novel around 5 this morning. My family had finished about a day earlier (hey, I had to leave a little time for watching television - but I also like to read at a leisurely pace).
There were so many things I loved about the novel. I'll go over some of them here. But consider this review a work in progress - I'll be back with more.
The interactions among the magical species were better than in the any of the previous novels: The banking, swordmaking goblins, in particular, were fleshed out, and played a crucial role in this story. So did house elves, and the giants and centaurs put in good appearances, too. Harry, Hermione, and Ron even got a chance to fly on another dragon.
All the beloved elements of the series got a great workout: Whether you like Patronuses or Nearly-Headless Nick or the magic of wizardry painting (enabling the people in portraits to talk to viewers, move to other frames in their vicinity, or even migrate to other portraits of themselves, wherever they may be - as a media theorist, I especially enjoy that) - they're all here.
It was good to see radio in the picture: Harry, Hermione, and Ron spend an amount of time on the run, cut off from knowledge of what is happening to their friends and enemies. As I was reading a heart-warming, riveting section in which Ron is able to tune in a pirate radio station - Potterwatch - I realized that only someone from Britain could write this so effectively. When that country teetered on the edge of falling to the Nazis at the beginning of World War II, it was Winston Churchill's voice on the radio that kept it going. Harry Potter is in many ways a uniquely British contribution to the world - at once British and universal. Much like the Beatles, it reflects the special genius on the other side of the Atlantic for entertaining and educating the world.
Lots of good details that explain oddities in our world: For example, why you sometimes walk or drive down a street, and notice the numbering on the houses has missed a beat - as if a number was accidentally skipped or left out. (This was probably in earlier novels, too, but it was good to get that little insight again. One of the best things about science fiction and fantasy is their offering exotic but logical explanations for everyday oddities.)
My favorite line: Molly Weasley, dueling with Bellatrix: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" Yeah, all caps, and deservedly so.
Life and deaths: With a few exceptions, all warranted, and deeply satisfying.
Quibbles? Inevitable - no story, even the one J. K. Rowling has given us, can be perfect for every reader. But they're so few - indeed, just three, really - that I can put them here in one little paragraph: (i) Several good people died at the end, who didn't need to, or whose deaths were too off-scene and therefore didn't seem motivated. (ii) I don't get why Harry, Hermione, and Ron refrain from using killing curses on the villains, and confine themselves to stuns, etc. (iii) There was an unnecessary Epilogue.
But these are small reservations to an extraordinary ending to an extraordinary series.

My friends just told me that there's a new Bob Ong book entitled MACARTHUR. This is his 6th book and as per Glenn, it's actually quite different from his previous books. I've actually read all his other books and I enjoyed his sense of humor and his witty remarks.
So I've been checking a few websites if they're already selling it online, and unfortunately, it's still not available. So I've asked my husband to just send me the copy that he has so that I wouldn't have to be bothered of waiting for it to be available for online purchase. It's a pity that they don't have pre-order features for Filipino books.
I've read a few forums about the book and the reviews said that it talks about a deeper issue but still has some humor included, like dark comedy. Though it's fiction, the story is very realistic in today's society, telling a story about drugs and the affects on the family. Some said that this book is NOT one of his best and from what Glenn told me, "bitin yung ending" so he thinks that I might not like it compared to what I was used to when reading any Bob Ong material.
Anyway, I'll still have to wait a few more weeks before I could get hold of this book. But my anticipation isn't that severe since I'm still expecting my HP7 in a few days.

Most of our chickens are free range chickens, meaning they are free to roam the property and into the woods or anyplace their little hearts desire, we have no neighbors around us that this can be a problem for and it makes for far better egg production when they are free range.But there is a drawback related to the youngsters and that comes from the air born predators such as hawks during the day time and owls at night, the owls are the worst because they can and do hide in the trees and when the youngsters get to far away from momma hen, they can become a target so fast.Last night we lost 3 youngsters who for some reason didn’t want to stay in the hen house with mom and returned to the outdoors to roost behind the hen house, this morning we found nothing but feathers from the 3 youngsters and we think it was the Owl who has been giving us problems here for awhile now.

We do have an Owl trap on the property and it has caught a few over the years, we then have to call the game commission for instructions on what to do once they are captured.

This past weekend I went and saw Evan Almighty. Overall I’d give it a decent rating. Nothing spectacular but then again nothing crappy either.There were definitely a few good messages within the movie. We were lucky to have Sunday to catch up on rest, but it was not enough as far as I'm concerned. Everything went well, even though it was about 95 degrees outside. I'm working to remember and relearn all the drumming techniques that were once at my command. To this end, I'm listening to a wide range of music. Yesterday, while I focused on the heavy thrash metal songs, I had an epiphany about how closely related this style is to another form that is completely unrelated. If you take a song from, say, Metallica, throw in a tuba, an accordion, and a voice that didn't sound like someone gargling moist phlegm, you would have a polka tune! Granted, the words wouldn't be as uplifting as you'd expect but the fast paced beat is certainly there. Just an observation. I don't expect Metallica to be releasing an album of "by golly", "you betcha'" polka tunes any time soon.

I just love what Im doing to Nicole right this time. She is cooperating well when I told her to wee on her potty. It's like every minute I have to remind her hehe silly me! For now my eyes are keep on her just incase she want's to make poop. She is being a good girl cos she would tell me the sign like"poo poo" but I knew she is going to wee lol! I know when she is about to have it cos the expressions of eyes. It's nice to see her new development. I know it would take a while and patience with it but we don't force her, it is still good when she does that although we are here for her supporting and still training her. In the long run they don't need our reminders but to do it on their own. She is getting good at it though. This morning she sat on it and wee, it's her second or third time to do it. But haven't really had poop in it. Before she will just sit in there and following me pushing hard then she would get some tissue pretending wiping her small cute butt haha! You kids are just so precious though, they are so cute, angel when they do things by following us. Hehe! So very cute indeed! Silly me cos I put her potty besides our bed or besides here while watching tv so she would always remember it when she wants to do something lol!

Every night, the same routine will take place. I put kids to bed, and Gordon must poo. Must poo when the light are out..... Niamah. I must then go clean him and change him again. Malcolm will start screaming and it wont end till maybe he feels tired or out of battery. He's still at it as i'm typing this.

Hope everybody had a good Independence Day yesterday. I took a bit of a holiday myself since I wasn't needed at work.We had a little BBQ with some friends and then watched the Aurora fireworks display from the parking lot of PetSmart over at I-225 and Alameda. There was this one drunk dude there that was throwing fireworks up in the air and getting belligerent when people complained that sparks were falling on them. He made the mistake of throwing one right in front of an Aurora police officer that was patrolling the crowd on a dirt bike. Ha, Loser! I was amazed at all the dumb asses that tried to stop on the interstate to watch the fireworks. This one van load of people even got out of their vehicle. Yeah, like that was smart. Good thing the police were patrolling and moving them along before someone got hurt. Right after the fireworks ended, a really cool wind blew in bringing a heavy downpour with it. It was kind of cool to sit in the back of the Escape with the back door up watch the rain and waiting for the crowd to dissipate before heading home.

The sucky part was I didn't get to sleep until after midnight with all the fireworks being shot off in the neighborhood and a nightmare woke me up at 4 am. Working on 4 hours sleep was no fun today. Thankfully, I got a little nap in after work. It's going to be early to bed for me tonight!

Not too long ago, I received a tip off that E*Trade will dilly dally in processing applications from Malaysia, if at all. I’ve been working for CIT at UB since October of 2005. It’s kind of hard to grasp for me, I’ve never held a job steady for this long of a time period. It’d be nice if I was able to get a promotion to senior though, it kinda makes me feel like dirt being a junior after such a long time period and seeing all these juniors getting promoted before me that were hired after me. I’m wondering what I do so wrong that makes me not eligible.It’s odd. I pick up hours like crazy, I show up for my shifts on time or early, leave late because I finish what I started, I’m courteous to customers regardless of how they treat me and I still am in the same place I was at the beginning. I even cover for people a lot and did the September welcome that we offered in August (Ironic, yes) and worked about 20 hours that weekend so I’m showing effort and I get involved.

Maybe I’m just not meant for it or I should follow the philosophy of good things come to those who wait but waiting sure is making me even more impatient. *sigh* We’ll see, maybe I’ll have more luck getting promoted at IGA.
