read all the books

What is most interesting to me is that the list in the quiz which ask you to pick a line of which you had read all the books. I can honestly say that I had read all the books in all the choices. I try to read quite a bit but then again I am actually writing quite a bit which does rather get in the way of reading. I am currently reading something called Blood Eagle which involves blood sacrifice and Vikings in modern day Germany.

"A Christmas Pick-Me-Up"

Christmas decorations

Or at least as official as it can be anyway. All of my Christmas decorations are out and the outside lights have been hung. I'll try to take pictures of the lights tonight if I can, the ones from last year didn't turn out very good though. I'd like to do more outside, like get one of those HUGE globe thingies, but my dogs already go nuts at the blow up Santa in the neighbors yard, so I'm sure they'd tear anything i put in my yard to pieces.

I also managed to FINALLY get my Carson Palmer poster hung above my desk. Not too bad considering I've had it for about a year now...LOL!

Moving to Las Vegas

The Las Vegas real estate must just be booming with everyone renting or purchasing homes.Did you know that over 5000 people pick up and move to Las Vegas every each month? Now I tend to have fairly cosmopolitan friends and the subject of buying outside of one’s home country comes up rather often and Las Vegas is mentioned as a possible destination. In fact several of them own flats and even business outside of their home country or local area. the MLS Las Vegas real estate must just be booming with everyone renting or purchasing homes. I know a few people who have moved to Las Vegas but they never really said much about having any difficulty finding a home or whether it was really expensive or not. Most of the people who are moving to Las Vegas usually rent a house at start and later buy they own. To see what homes are available for rent check: http://www.millionsaver.com/rentals/ Resale homes listed by agents:http://www.millionsaver.com/search-resale-homes.htm
Or new homes by builders: http://www.millionsaver.com/new-homes.htm
New homes are offering plenty of incentives, like paid closing cost, free upgrades, downpayment assistance, etc. See this page for some examples: http://www.millionsaver.com/new-homes.htm
Check millionsaver.com out,They offer free real estate and free home searches which makes searching for a Las Vegas home. It's so easy!

just flying

Time is just flying by and I can't believe we are quickly approaching December!!! Whoa!! How'd that sneak up like that?I got brave this year and went out with my sister to shop on Black Friday. I had fun! Lots of fun and I think I'll do it every year. I managed to get the kids big ticket item for $70 off the normal price. That was definitely worth the trip out! I also scored big time at Bath And Bodyworks stocking up on Wallflowers and antibacterial soaps. I also got a free full size box of their fragrance and a Christmas cd. The Christmas cd is awesome. I put it in and danced around the house with Sam to 'Santa Baby.' After we were all shopped out, my sister took me to her gym. I really didn't care for it. I guess I'm just spoiled by mine or something. This weekend has just flown by and now it's time to get ready for another week.

little pup

My poor little pup is not going to be feeling very good tomorrow. He has his surgery and I have a feeling he's going to be a little out of it for a while. I'm sure it wont be long before he's back to his little spazzy self though.

I'll be glad to get all this puppiness behind me. I seemed to of forgotten how hard having a puppy is. I waited all this time to get all my 'babies' in school so I'd have some me time and now all I do is care for this little guy!!

Save Big money When Buying A Home

Are you ready to buy a house in the Dallas? recommend to anyone buying a house that they search around and find something like that.I came across something if your currently interested in Dallas Real EstateThey offer 1.5% rebates to anyone who buys their home with them. They think that realtors make too much money with the 6% commission and they are willing to split that with you! That really adds up and is a nice little chunk to take to the bank and to use for moving expenses, window treatments, appliances, or whatever you want. you can find these home buyer rebates all over the place, in most major markets - Dallas real estate, Tampa, New York, California.enjoy it!

Vox Populi

The Vox Populi has spoken with great precision and accuracy. This little gem demonstrates the validity of that old saw that “modern art” is naught but rubbish.

holiday decorating

So I’m trying to do a bit of holiday decorating around the house today. And my stupid Christmas wreath is giving me fits. First of all, it’s huge. We bought it at Target last year on clearance and saved a bundle, so we got the huge wreath. The wreath hanger I have, while adjustable, doesn’t adjust to the position needed to hang this monster wreath. Or, and it made a mark in the paint on my front door. The command adhesive hook I already have on the door from my fall scarecrow sign is too low for the wreath, and I can’t find the rest of the hooks…I know I have 3 or 4 somewhere, waiting.

I gave up on the wreath and I’m moving to the garland. I’m hanging it from the stair railing. After that, I’ve got to remove 2 days worth of shopping bags from the car. And there’s absolutely NO room in my closet for all of these things I bought! I may need to hide some of the things in a tote in the garage to keep them away from the children and their little eyeballs.

Houston Rodeo Livestock Show

The biggest rodeo of the year is definitely the Houston Rodeo.Last time,I seen it at the Wortham Theatre in downtown Houston on Aug. 23, 2006.They’ve performed at the Houston Rodeo & Livestock Show previously as entertainers. In fact, it was a really nice mix of groups and singers, including acts from Texas like Beyonce. If they were going to be there again, would definitely want to purchase Houston Rodeo concert tickets and drive over to Texas! I will tell you,When you buy Houston Rodeo concert tickets, you're actually buying tickets to a much larger event than what you see on TV. There is the livestock show, entertainment, shopping, food, etc. Not to mention a huge carnival. It is a month long rodeo extravaganza that any rodeo fan can't miss. I can see concerts any time and barn animals at any of our local fairs.Enjoy it!

Bad news

Bad news for Britain's main state-owned broadcast, great news for ITV plc: "The BBC's chairman, Michael Grade, has sensationally switched-over to become executive chairman of ITV... Grade's defection will stun colleagues and cause mayhem inside the BBC, which is in the final stages of licence-fee negotiations with the Government. The corporation today said it was 'disappointed' about his departure."

PBR Finals tickets

WOW!!the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) World Finals are going to be in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Yes,bull-fighting originates from Spain, but the World Final is actually in Las Vegas. Bull riding is actually a rodeo sport and the aim of the game is to stay on the bull for a complete 8 seconds. Now I know that 8 seconds might not sound like a long time, but when you have a kicking struggling beast under you, it can feel like an eternity.Experienced professionals can get scores of 75 or more; above 80 is excellent - 90 is considered outstanding. To be given points the rider must stay on at least eight seconds. Points are deducted if a rider is constantly off-balance. If a rider can control a bull well, he can receive extra "style" points. If the rider touches the bull with his free arm, he is disqualified. When looking at the bull, judges consider overall agility, speed and power, back end kicks and front end drops. There’s still time to get a tickets to the Professional Bull Riders, and catch some of the rodeo action. I’d rather see bull riding than any of the acts on the strip. Hot cowboys on animals weighing 2 tons or more…yeah, I think that tops seeing the Blue Man Group, or Air Supply.Do they have the regular rodeo clowns? I think since they’re in Vegas they should have Vegas showgirls doing the job of the rodeo clowns. Can’t you just imagine some girl in 3 inch heels with feathers on her head, trying to distract a bull?It doesn't sound like a sport I could really take to, as I don't really fancy falling off a bull, but it sounds pretty exciting to watch.enjoy it !

Windows Activation works on Vista

There are two types of keys: Multiple Activation Keys (MAKs) which are valid for a defined number of installations and Volume Licence Keys (VLK) where a client runs his own Key Management Server and "leases out" keys on a 6 monthly cycles. Extremely interesting. Thanks Mark for clearing that one up!

Libertarian

And its called Libertarian Home. Good layout, loads quite and looks interesting. Well worth a look.

bpm.com

Interesting article on bpm.com about Business-Oriented Architecture by Rod Favaron. In it he talks about how business-orientation is what makes BPM different from services-oriented architecture (SOA). For a business person, the chief value of a SOA is that it removes the need to understand the complex application infrastructure of the company today; this simplifies the conversation – and returns the discussion of process improvement to a business orientation. BPM also provides a set of tools for business users; tools focused on business improvement, not service implementation and management. The ability to quickly and flexibly define end-to-end processes, identify performance goals and then manage to those goals is what sets BPM apart from technology-based tools

um…MySpace

And its called MySpace and its on um…MySpace. He has other MySpace exclusives there as well. Mitch is doing two gigs in London this Satuday. More details on his site as well as other dates round the country. His MySpace profile is quite good and its a great source of info about the rather clever and damn funny man. human trafficing

Instead of doing his we’re sorry bit about slavery in the 19th century surely it would be a better idea for Blair to focus the world attention on human trafficing which CNN now considers “worse than African slavery". There is still slavery in the world in places like Africa still (see the evil White man stopping their trade in slaves didn’t end it at all) as well as the Middle East. As one might expect with such a subject its another matter of political correctness. Its hard to highlight the fact that Africans are still slavers, as they were way back when, and that Muslims/Arabs in the Middle East have never stopped slaving. I love how some in the political correct brigade like glossing over the fact that it was Africans themselves who sold other Africans into slavery. It was not the white man that went into Africa and grabbed them; it was African tribes selling them to the white man on the coast. Instead of sycophantically grovelling over the long-distant past how about paying attention to the slavery that is happening in the world right now

congratulated yourself

Have you ever congratulated yourself or someone else just a little too early?

You know like Faith Hill did at the music awards two weeks ago? Smiling and cheering when the winner was announced and starting to move towards the stage the tiniest bit then the name that was announced sank in and she realized it wasn’t her name? Yeah, she says she was just acting or fooling around but I think she really thought she won.

Ok, so you know what kind of situation I’m talking about now. Watch this video then- it’s very short - and see a very good example of why you shouldn’t celebrate until you win the race.

Catholic Show

Not only are the technology geeks getting into the podcasting scene but now the Catholic churches are as well.Catholic Show is a new podcast that is focused on inviting former Catholics back to the church,or just reiterating your current faith. This podcast may just inspire me to attend Mass.I just need to get my inner spirit moving in the right direction. Thanks Catholic Show.com.

your own hosting company

Have you ever thought of starting your own hosting company? Perhaps you are using a free hosting blog service right now but you’ve been thinking of taking the big step of using a hosting site and purchasing your own domain? Why not take it one step further by doing that and starting your own hosting company?

Hosterio makes it easy to set up your own Reseller Web Hosting business. Put it this way, to start your own hosting company you need a Hosting website, a way to charge your clients such as a billing Manager to manage your clients, orders and enabling you to accept online orders, a support ticketing Manager to provide support to your clients, a merchant Account, and a Reseller Hosting Package. The good news is that the first four items in the list of what you need are included when you choose your Reseller hosting package.

It’s that easy. Every single thing you need is in the Reseller hosting package. All you have to do is choose which type of reseller package you’d like.

Cell Phone Unlocking Legal for 3 years

This is some great news for people on GSM networks or nicer CDMA (they're tougher on allowing phones on their network) network users who have a phone they want to use with multiple carriers. The US is making it legal to unlock your headsets, so no more internet searching or Craigslist for people to do this for you. It's great for me since I have an international Quad-Band phone (W810i) and I use it in the US and in Canada at times as well. This may not apply to people but having an unlocked cell phone can come in handy, so this is definitely great news.

Here's the story on ArsTechnica HERE if you want to know the details.

spend up to three years hunkered

An Italian sociologist hopes to spend up to three years hunkered in a small, chilly underground cave in central Italy to better understand the body’s natural cycles, the daily newspaper La Repubblicareported.

Maurizio Montalbini, 53, moved into his new grotto home this week. He intends to pass more than 1,000 days drinking water from a small pipe, and eating food pills at meals. But he has also brought a few treats: four kilograms of honey, two kilograms of nuts, and 1.5 kilograms of chocolate, according to La Repubblica.

His sojourn aims to better understand the body’s natural rhythms to determine better medical dosages and fight stress and insomnia.

I’ll bet you $1000 he doesn’t last a year! I’m sure I’d go nuts if I was stuck in there for THREE years! Holy smokes!

My predictions are Nintendo

Thought you guys might like this site where they show an update sales figure for each next generation console. Pretty interesting looking at the numbers, with only 300,000 total PS3's sold, well short of their 400,000 stated initial goal. As well I thought they're would be more Wii's out there, but it's still a LOT more than the PS3's.

As you can see the Xbox360 still has a comfortable lead on both consoles but we'll see what happens once production for the 2 other consoles start picking up.

My predictions are Nintendo 1, Microsft 2 and Sony 3 with each having 40/30/30 market share. We'll see in a year if I'm right.

Alright, here's the link to http://nexgenwars.com/.

Avoid Mortgage Fraud

Mortgage is one of the most popular subjects nowadays. I remember when we were house hunting, The experience of dealing with a real estate broker, real estate lawyer, mortgage broker and securing a mortgage with the bank were all new, and frankly intimidating experiences for the two of us.I've seen called personalhomeloanmortgages.com. They have a lot of information to help protect the customer and help them fully understand the ins and outs of borrowing. They got a mortgage directory, forums and some industry content/terms to help you out. There’s articles explaining mortgage brokers, Understanding home equity loans, Mortgage basics - called appropriately Mortgage 101.You’ll feel secure when you use this site because all customer data is protected through SecureTrust. I think you’ll get some very useful nformation here.

PS3 Hacked already

Yep just read over the Kotaku.com (great video game news site, on par with Joystick.com) that they've managed to rip a copy of Madden '07 using the onboard linux that you can use on the PS3. I think it's only a matter of days, not weeks, before we can execute backups since they say the structure is like the PSP and we all know about the PSP hacks that are out there, lol. (If you don't type PSP Homebrew in google)

The full article is here on Kotaku, the same site (the one Kotaku links has links on how to install a 750gb HD and other things) so visit them HERE and learn how to hack your PS3 before you manage to get one in febuary, lol.

meetings wrapped up

Phew. Nothing like a few jam-packed days of meeting and training sessions to suck the life out of you! I was so wiped out last night I went to bed earlier than I have in weeks, and fell asleep in just a few minutes.

After the meetings wrapped up last night, about 10 of us from my office went to the Columbia in Ybor City upon an invite from our CIO, aka my bosses boss. We started off with sangria and tapas (Empanadas de Picadillo, Black Bean Cakes, and Shrimp and Crabmeat Alcachofas). I had Paella “A la Valenciana” for my entree:

Prepared in a traditional paella pan, features clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamares, grouper, chicken and pork, baked with Valencia rice, extra virgin olive oil, green peppers, Spanish onions, ripe tomatoes, garlic, spices and splashed with white wine.

Love to live it up when the company is paying for it!

Today I’m working at home and it’s the kids last day of winter break. Thank GOD - I need for them to go back to school so I can get my routine back!

First Free Push-Email service

I want tell you about the world’s first free Push-Email service.a company called Emoze LTD has developed a system where you can use most any mobile devide to recieve emails in real time. www.emoze.com has been released emoze 1.30 the world's first free and secure "push" email and PIM service. With emoze 1.30 Personal Edition, anyone with a compatible mobile phone can receive work or home emails and Personal Information Manager (PIM) data such as contacts and diary scheduling on their mobile phone, or PDA on the move, anywhere in the world.

Most of them already have their own cell phones so it’s not something the company would have to maintain or support. The service is proactive, so it doesn't wait for you to go online to check, which means less time wasted waiting for that important email, it's automatically sent to you. It gets better since the software is enable through emoze's easy to configer web site which takes you through all the steps. If you've used a traditional mail program such as Outlook you'll easily be able to configure emoze as it's similar and simple like that. Wait there's more good news. Best of all, this software is free for personal use, that's right free. As of right now emoze personal edition 1.1 supports microsoft pocketpc smartphones out of the box but support is coming soon withing the next few weeks for the vast majority of smartphones and the Symbian OS smartphones such as the 6680/6682, Nokia N-series, etc. All users need is an email account and a supported device.

For the money

It’s been a while since I talked about work, so here goes.

I like my job - actually, I love my job. My boss rocks, and he didn’t make me come into the office all summer. I will have to go in sometime this month to meet our new CIO, but that’s cool. It’s great working for someone (a MAN no less) who understands that child care and gas cost money.

I just finished a huge project. HUGE. Literally months hunched over a spreadsheet. And I am so fricking relieved! I was getting sick of doing the same thing day after day after day. Now I have 4 or 5 smaller projects to keep me busy and I’m much more content.

In another month I’ll have been at this company for 2 years…and I’m still not sick of my boss, or the work. I think that’s a good sign!

Set Up Your Own Corporation

Starting your new corporation is not complicated. There is a site that makes setting up a corporation online easy, painless and inexpensive! The site is incparadise.com. How does it work? You submit an online application. They do all the filings, upload copy of articles to your account and send you originals. Basically you have to choose your company name, decide who will be director, and who will be the officers (president, treasurer and secretary). You also have to decide how many shares do you want to issue. All what it means is that company is authorized to issue certain number of shares, but it is not very important unless you are planning to go public and need millions of shares. Some states base their fee on number of shares issued. For example you can have 75 million of shares in Nevada and still pay the lowest filing fee of $75. In Delaware you would pay tens of thousands in legal fees. Some States allow only one person to hold all functions. For example Nevada is like that. You can be director, president, treasurer and secretary.
Many people ask what is the difference between LLC and S Corp? You can found explained here:
http://www.incparadise.com/text/faq-corporation-entities.htm
Now you can set one up for $89 on top of the state fees for setting one up.There offer incorporation in all 50 States. For your convenience, they notify you about annual requirements. Incorporating online could not be easier and faster. Incorporate your business NOW!!

something like Camtasia Studio

My boss and I love to take a break from our normal help desk work to train new users on the system. Since our offices are spread out from here to there, we do most of our training online via web meeting and even a few flash presentations. It’s an easy way to introduce a new user to PeopleSoft. Another option for us may be to use something like Camtasia Studio. You can create interactive video tutorials for training, software demos and presentations. Even though the end result is professional looking, the file size is still small enough that we could upload it to our company intranet or burn to a CD-ROM.

shake-it-like-Shakira

What is the world coming to when a 22 year old woman can't go into a nice saloon, climb up on the bar, and shake-it-like-Shakira without falling and hurting herself?
Its a sad state of things that saloon owners can't keep their bars up to dancing conditions. The history of dancing on bar tops goes back hundreds if not thousands of years. There is a long written and verbal history that details the continually evolving practice of Bar Top Maintenance for dancing.
Many biblical scholars have recently found evidence to indicate that not only was Marry Magdalene featured in the Portrait of the Last Supper, but that the table was actually a low Roman styled bar. Magdalene is often thought to have been a prostitute, but in fact she was a professional bar dancer, which is how she met Jesus, who was known to frequent many a bar during a thirty year bought with alcoholism.
Many people credit Magdalene with saving The Savior from himself with an irrestible twitch of the hips and lift of the wrists and hands laden with finger cymbols.
Regardless, even two thousand years ago everyone knew how important it was to keep a dry stable dancing bar in good working order. I think it is a sign of the times and of our country reflecting a decision point that we must make as a nation.
Should we continue to subject our saloon patronesses to unsafe bar top dancing environments and face the downfall of society?
Or shall we get a fresh bar towel and dry the damn thing off every now and then?

GPS

Did you know that you can get a teen tracking gps or a vehicle tracking gps? This scares me. If anyone can track you now, what will stop the government from doing the same. In the world in which we live, what’s to say that I will not be considered a terrorist? Nowadays, all you have to do is not agree with the government, and they can hold you without trial or lawyer. I am not sure what the president did with out Bill Of Rights. BrickHouseSecurity seems to be the leader in the GPS Tracking area. I am sure they are a great company. However, covert gps tracking makes me a little nervous. I just need GPS, so I do not get lost.

I'll take care of this

An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son in New York and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough."

"Pop, what are you talking about," the son screams.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the old man says. "We're sick and tired of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this,so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her." And he hangs up.

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "Like Heck they're getting a divorce, she shouts. "I'll take care of this." She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at the old man, "You are NOT getting divorced! Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then don't do a thing,DO YOU HEAR ME?" And she hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone, smiles and turns to his wife. "They're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way."

Xbox 360 sells out in seconds

completely forgot about the deal that Amazon.com was putting on their website this morning. It was a Microsoft Xbox 360 Core system for $100 - a unit that retails for $299.

From reports it seems the website became unresponsive in the last few seconds leading up to 11AM PST, which is when the deal was to be made available.

Only 1,000 systems were available at that price and there were millions of people vying for one of those so the chances of landing one were pretty slim anyways.

Dating online with first UK free online singles dating site

I know several people who have found love on the Internet. Some of them even ended up marrying. I think it’s a good way for some people to meet. You get a chance to talk to someone online, and then perhaps the phone as you get to know them and while you are doing that a friendship and perhaps even a relationship is developing. In this day and age when people are so busy working, trying to pay all their bills, caring for family - it can be hard to make time to find people to date. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using an online dating service. It works well for some! Here’s some stats from Loopy Love’s site--The largest UK matchmaking service website.
The site states that each week, 2 or three marriages occur between members who met on Loopy love as UK singles dating online , and there are 100’s of satisfied members too.
You might not be looking for marriage, but it’s nice to know that they are helping people match up.Once you are registered you can run full searches that include more detail than the quicksearch on the index such as searching for someone with a specific hair colour, eye colour, body type, height, ethnicity, religion, education, employment, industry, income, whether they drink or smoking and so on.It's easy to ues. then list an area of the UK in which to find your new love, so no matter where you are in the UK you should be able to find someone nearby who wants to try dating.

You can receive match alerts by email, plus chat with other members online before meeting them .along with adding photos to your profile there is a video profile option as well. What could be better than seeing a potential match via video. Why not try it out? maybe you will find you love.

partake in the food and wine festival

We’re off to Epcot for the day to partake in the food and wine festival. Yes, food, and wine, together at Disney - three of my favorite things together in one neat little package! Plus, we’re not taking ANY children. Just my husband and I, and other grown up friends, doing grown up things and not being begged to go on this ride, or that ride, or to buy a toy. Not to mention, Jon Secada will be in concert tonight. Remember him? I do - he was at grad night at Magic Kingdom in 1993. A bit ironic that I’m seeing him at Disney again after all these years.

Patience

Patience is a virtue-- just not one of mine. I seem to excel at random impetuous acts that often deliver negative responses.

I am waiting. Waiting is the best thing for me to do right now. Waiting sucks. No, I haven't started work. Paperwork, timing blah, blah, blah.

Croaker: "Perhaps I'm just too optimistic."

H: "Is there such a thing?"

Croaker: "Yes I think it is called being realistic."

H:" Oh I wouldn't know anything about that."

Croaker: "Apparently neither do I."

NO NO NO More...

OK. I made it to the half way point and just couldn’t go any further. Terry Pratchett says that writing is the most fun a person can have alone, and that was kind of true for parts of my own NaNo experience, but mostly there was just frustration. I admire people that can sit down and crank out 50,000 words in a month, I really do. I just can’t write like that.

Or, at least, I couldn’t write like that this time.

I think part of the problem at least is the amount of stress in my life right now. I yearn for pages and pages of stress free description. I find myself watching Jane Austen adaptations just for a glimpse of the peaceful surroundings.

Writing a story is about creating stress and I just can’t bring myself to do it. For now, I’m going to have to be content typing out my occasional observations and complaints for a not at all captive audience of steadfast blog readers.

Or, next year, I’ll actually have to come up with idea before trying again.

Fleecy V signs

It's 3am in the morning and I have been awake since 1.30am not being able to sleep. The wind is howling outside and I just have this incredibly strange feeling that something bad has happened. I feel uneasy and my stomach has been churning for a few days now.

My great nan is getting progressively worse in hospital. The hospital has broached the question of whether to resusitate if she stops breathing and the family have said no. My gran is tired, her body is steadily shutting down, as its own way of saying 'I've had a good life, it's time'. I know that it is coming, I know that she has had a great life and that I love her with all my heart but it does not make it any easier. I know that she had a special softspot for me as I was her first great grandchild and as a result I was spoilt rotten by her. I thought she did that to all the family but I have learnt recently that I was the only one that she looked after in this way. She would sit me on her knee and tell me stories about her travels, we would rant at Wimbledon, make the best piccalilli together and just gossip about the family. My gran had the biggest dressing up cupboard ever, as she kept all the costumes that she wore in the local carnival that she took part in with a womens club every year.I remember spending hours trying them on...one day I was Queen Victoria, next day I was a clown. I would also spend hours dancing round her living room to the vinyl records that she had...from the Who to Bucks Fizz.
Having gran in hospital, makes me feel so incredibly guilty. I wish I could care for her in her last days with us. She took care of me and I feel that I should give her some dignity. I know that she is being looked after well but I still have this tremendous guilt.

I should be slumbering like a baby on a new mattress that I badgered my landlord for, but I just can't seem to get back to sleep. I've had a hot drink, I've watched the television a bit (what the hell is that Quiz tv thing on ITV? ) and I have done some reading but still those sheep don't want to jump over the fence and are lounging around on their fleecy arses giving me the V sign. This week I have felt exhausted and have had great difficulty in keeping my eyes open at work, so I really could do with some sleep.

Think I will have to go to the final resort and run at the wall and knock myself out. If I am careful about it, then I may fall backwards straight onto the mattress and have some comfort after impact. Knowing my luck though I would end up falling backwards onto the bed, bounce offthe super new springy mattress, hit the other wall opposite, ricochet in the other direction and land upside down behind my chest of drawers with Horace the spider for company. Hmm well here goes....

I had a pretty significant one this morning

I had a pretty significant one this morning. In fact, I woke up crying and once I got into the shower, I let the waterworks flow. I'm not going to share the details as they are kind of private and not really significant to anyone but me, but the fact that I was repressing some major emotions and memories is. I've been trying to figure out why and when I went from just fat to obese. The fat is a result of not eating right my whole life, but the obesity was trying to hide and smother something. My subconscious finally got through as to what that was. I've been doing this to myself since late high school/early college (late 80s). I've been trying to hide this from myself for over 20 years. It's when I started becoming promiscuous. It's when I stopped taking my music as seriously as I should have. It's when I started losing confidence in myself, started making choices that I knew weren't in my best interest and really started hating myself.

Best in the world FLASHLIGHTS

Have your ever considered giving someone you love a flashlight? It never fails that when you have need of a pelican flashlights, you also need a third hand or another person to hold the light source for you. That's why for Christmas I've been looking at the flashlights from OpticsPlanet.net.They had a really cool LED Clip-Mate clip-on flashlight made by >StreamLight that I would just love to have! LEDs are brighter than regular bulbs and they have the advantage that they don't burn out. They have everything from the headlamp flashlight I was fanticizing about earlier.Another cool option is a hands-free headlamp. Just strap it on your head and the light moves with you while you're working. One of the best Christmas presents I ever got was a 1,000,000 cp rechargeable lantern that charged via my cigarette lighter.
With discount pricing from major manufacturers such as Surefire, pelican and StreamLight, no matter what the lighting needs of your gift recipient, OpticsPlanet is sure to have the perfect gift. There is also free UPS on orders over $29.95. I think it's a great gift idea to get someone a quality flashlight.Isn't?

I strongly believe in Santa Claus and I firmly believe in Love

Another year draws to a close. As the winter sets in, people, all over the world, begin to prepare for Christmas and associated festivities.
Christmas brings to mind the image of a jolly, old, rotund man with a long white beard, dressed in red, known across the world as Santa Claus. Santa Claus is a universal figure, transcending the boundaries of nations, continents, religions and cultures. Kids all across the world wait eagerly for Santa Claus to visit and shower gifts on them, things that they have wanted and waited for a long time.
Yet, if grown ups are asked if they believe in Santa Claus, most would look at you, shake their heads and move on. If someone would deign a reply, it would most likely be:
" I used to but then I grew up."
Love is something similar to Santa Claus. We all have strong belief in love and its power to begin with but then as we "grow" we begin to lose faith in its power. For many, it just becomes a thing that exists only in books and movies, not to be found in real life. So, when you ask somebody if he or she believes in love, the most likely answer would be:
" I used to but now I know better."
Call me childish, different or even foolish but my answers to both the questions differ.
I believe in Santa Claus. Someone or some thing that has the ability to light up so many faces with the most wonderful smiles can't be non-existent. He is to be found in each of us. Every one of us has the capability to make a difference in someone else's life. Sometimes we do that without realizing, sometimes we come to know of it. Maybe Santa does not exist as a person, but as a phenomenon, he is very much alive and among us, not just on Christmas but on every day of the year. Though for some reason he chooses to show himself only on Christmas.
Love is a great feeling. One who has not been in love has missed on the most wonderful feeling that there is. One who has been in love does not need to be told how amazing the feeling is. We can get an idea of what love is capable of if we try to not just read some of the great love poems and romance epics but attempt to recreate, for ourselves, the feelings that must have stirred in the heart of the person who wrote these lines of verse or prose. Something so powerful can't be non-existent either.
I strongly believe in Santa Claus and I firmly believe in Love. Do you?

There is a right time for everything

This weekend, I had to go out of town to help my brother with some things, and I had almost given up on this Sunday's ByB post. But as chance would have it, I got an opportunity to use a computer on my way back and in the little trip, I made, I realized something. It was something I had known all along, and all of us often hear it said time and again.

"There is a right time for everything"

I think many times, in our lives, we are striving for the wrong things at the wrong times. Sometimes we miss a chance and then we try to get it back, thus ignoring the chances that present has to offer. At other times we look too much into the future and again ignore the present. In both cases we end up getting hurt and frustrated with life. We all get opportunities in life, that we might miss sometimes, but to identify an opportunity and make use of it is a great blessing.

What this also means is that at times we have to let go of the past. If it is good then instead of resting on our laurels, we should consolidate what we have and go on to achieve more. If it has been bad then it is best to forget it, learn your lesson from it and move on.

For the greatest blessing ever is to be alive, to breathe, to move, to see a sun set, to see a child smile. The best things in life are free.

One activity that can be very pleasurable

One activity that can be very pleasurable at times and most annoying at others is driving. Going on a drive is a favorite way for many people to relax and it comes high on the list of things to do on a romantic date. But driving is good as long as the road is wide, the scenery beautiful and traffic is at bare minimum As soon as the conditions become unfavorable driving becomes a nightmare.
Most of us, if not all, behave in a different way behind the wheel than we do in person. As soon as a person gets into the driving mode, his entire personality takes on a different hue. He is no more his usual self; he is a king, a lord who has to dominate and rule his domain. And if he sees someone trying to get past, it's seen as trespassing and the choicest of abuses are hurled and there is every possible attempt to hold the trespasser in abeyance.

Many people, I have driven with, get a thrill out of not letting anyone overtake them. All hell breaks lose if someone even tries to do that. It is as if the entire life depends upon who stays ahead on the road. I sincerly wish and hope that none of you has to go through an experience like that where you are on a rollercoaster ride not knowing what might turn up and bang into you at the next curve.
Road rage is a not a very uncommon phenomenon and while behind the wheel, it is as if the devil takes hold of a person. The most innocuous mistake of another driver feels and looks likes the most terrible thing a person can do, and it is automatically assumed that the responsibility of punishing him verbally and. if possible, physically has fallen on us and if we don't do that we fail in our duties.
Speeding is another thing that the car wants us to do. As long as the vehicle is not doing the best it can, there is no fun in driving, no zing at all. After all if we didn't want to go fast, weren't we better off walking. A car is made so that one can go as fast as the car can take him. This is the logic that most of us drive by, but it is for no reason that we have the adage : " Speed thrills, but kills'.
In short, driving is fun and it can be a great experience if everyone is as careful and polite on the road as they are off the road. And though we can't change everyone but we can change ourselves and make someone else's driving experience a pleasurable one. I mean who will forget a person who smiles at you and lets you overtake him, just like that. Will you?

ohhhhhhhhh......

I just got back from my first time watching Connor play a football game for his school. It was awesome! The game was played at the high school because it was the two middle schools in our district competing against each other. Connor is a 2nd stringer because he’s only in 7th grade and this is his first year ever playing football. So, given that it was this huge rivalry game played at the high school at night time, we weren’t expecting Connor to play. But, he got field time!! I practically leapt over the fence onto the field when I saw him go out onto the field! He didn’t make any great plays in the quarter he was in … and he even got some flak from his teammates about a play where the other team got a touchdown, but *I* thought he did great. I loved watching his enthusiasm and professionalism through out the whole night. When the coaches called the kids in, Connor was the first one there. When they did their exercises before the game, Connor made sure to be extra pronounced with all of his moves. While he stood on the sidelines for most of the game, he was getting his teammates amped up and closely following the game. He is jsut really, really into the whole thing and it’s very neat to see.

His team won 28-8, which makes them undefeated this season. I’ve got one proud buckaroo in my house tonight. Actually, I might be just a little proud, too.

The conscious void

I've been wanting to post this quote 4 the last 9 mths, neva got down to it coz I neva seriously kept a journal until Musing mammals. It stirs up alot of emotions n u know how when u sometimes feel song lyrics are an expression of u or commercials are talking to u, I feel this quote describes in words what I experience all the time. There cannot be a more succinct n precise way of describing it. It jez clicked when I came across it.

I'm bored, jez really bored, i dunno wat 2 do w my idle time. Coincidentally I'm also facing the consequences of my actions now. It's a double challenge keeping my head abt water, there's a chinese saying " Being aware of the consequences, . I season 1 & 2 of 6 feet under and I'm almost done w it. Can I say I love this drama so much, i feel a strong connection w it on so many levels. I gotta get my hands on an original copy or at least a high quality pirated copy of the drama. I'm reading chinese subtitles when my current Chinese pirated copy decides to fast forward n gibberish becomes the language of the drama. Although i must say it helps in galvanising my rusty mando. Since working at Rockpool, I've become more Aussie, it's a good thing, considering I am in Australia not in China. I really look down on Mack coz 6 years in Sydney but all his frens are Chinese. Man.. to think u went to an Australian private boys school, tt is so pathetic. You thought the US represented hope n liberty, a brighter future? HAHA u remind me of migrants looking for a brighter future. Moving to Sydney from China is ur liberation, the rest is high level liberation this is in ur head. Why the fuck am I going on and on about u anyway, be Egocentric Sharon, gotta learn to b egocentric. As 6 feet under progresses, Claire is like a mirror image of me. She lives other pple's dramas, I have to watch that epi n quote the exact words. Are u tempted to watch 6 feel under if u haven't already? It's one drama I can watch multiple times, it's one drama that pulls me in, it's like I feel I know this family, I am the silent watcher. These characters are very real, if u can't relate to them, can I say u are ignorant of this facet of society. I have 2 verify though that ignorance is bliss sometimes.

To b continued... it's time to reverse consequences. Fighting fighting

Everybody in my family thought it was pretty crazy

Angel Paredes, who otherwise lives in a Manhattan apartment, spent three nights this week on a sidewalk at 56th Street and Madison Avenue. That is the price he paid to be first in line at the Sony Plaza to buy a new PlayStation 3 — that and the $600 cost of the video game console.

“Everybody in my family thought it was pretty crazy,” said Mr. Paredes, a 31-year-old stock-market day trader. It could have been worse, he said: Sony left the bathrooms open.

At least he had company. Die-hard video game players began standing in line over the last few days in New York, San Francisco and elsewhere to be among the first owners of the Sony PlayStation 3 when it went on sale at midnight last night.

By midday yesterday, the line at the Sony Plaza in New York stretched most of the way down the block on 56th Street. The crowd was mostly men, some in chairs, some dozing, others playing handheld game machines and a few huddling beneath a jerry-rigged plastic awning for protection from the rain. A school bus drove past and the children all cheered. One cried: “PlayStation!”

It has been hyped for more than a year, but the battle of the next generation of video game consoles is officially joined this weekend. Following the release of the PlayStation 3 today, Nintendo plans to begin selling its own new console, the Wii, on Sunday at midnight. The third major rival, the Microsoft Corporation, began selling its Xbox 360 a year ago.

The three companies, through a series of trade conventions and tens of millions of dollars in marketing, have created a storm of hype. Sony and Microsoft are promoting games with more vivid graphics, more complex story lines and more seamless online play. Nintendo hopes to differentiate the Wii with a motion-sensing game controller that allows people to manipulate action on the screen by pointing and waving it.

More than a few of the people waiting in line yesterday in downtown San Francisco for a new Sony system had a different motivator.

“I’m selling mine on eBay,” Neal Chung-Yee, 27, a student at the Art Institute of California, declared proudly. He and others in the line said the hype, coupled with what is expected to be a lack of enough consoles to meet holiday demand, had created a secondary market on the Internet.

Mr. Chung-Yee, who had been camped out since Wednesday afternoon despite having a head cold, said that he had big plans for any profit he might make reselling the system: “I’m going to buy a brand-new TV.”

Mr. Chung-Yee and some other gaming fans said they were willing to wait to own a PlayStation 3 because they believed that it would take months for an adequate game library to be released. Plus, they said, to fully appreciate the rich graphics of the new Sony and Xbox systems, you need a high-definition television.

The skepticism among even the most serious game players underscores a challenge for Sony. How can it convince the masses to pay $500 or $600, depending on the model, for a game machine?

To counter consumer wariness, the company is promoting the idea that the PlayStation 3 is a great value, one with such rich graphics and computing power that it creates an irresistible emotional connection with users.

In one in a series of new television ads, the machine sits in a white room with a toy baby that, in response to the console, begins to laugh and cry.

Kaz Hirai, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said that the company wanted “to elicit an emotional response from you, good, bad or indifferent.” He said that creating such an emotional bond was the first step in making a sale, but that Sony also wanted to convey that the system is a good deal.

“It’s not too expensive,” Mr. Hirai said. “We’re offering fantastic value to consumers.” Future marketing efforts will emphasize Sony’s position that the PlayStation 3 is built with high-end components that will still work in 5 or even 10 years.

“Look at how long you’ll be able to enjoy your investment,” Mr. Hirai said.

Jim Louderback, editor in chief of PC Magazine, who recently reviewed both the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, said that idea did not sound realistic. “Considering there’s a new generation of video game consoles every five years, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me,” Mr. Louderback said.

Nintendo’s approach with the Wii is quite different. It costs $249, less than the basic Xbox model, which is $299 (a high-end version is $399). Nintendo is aiming the machine at mass-market consumers who do not necessarily want a superpowerful console with complex games.

Perrin Kaplan, vice president of marketing for Nintendo of America, said Microsoft and Sony could be alienating many people with the expense of their consoles but also by emphasizing their elaborate games.

“Some people are getting a little bored with the complexity, how deep the games are,” Ms. Kaplan said. “They have to do their jobs. They’ve got kids, or other interests.”

Ms. Kaplan said the industry needed to appeal to a broader group. “Our goal is to build the industry into something bigger,” she said, adding of the industry’s overall sales: “We need to find a way to go up or we’re going to start going down.”

Clear Channel Communications agrees $18.7bn sale

Clear Channel Communications, which owns and operates more than 1,500 radio stations, has agreed to be bought by an investment group for $18.7bn (£9.9bn).

Clear Channel is also the UK's biggest outdoor advertising group - also trading as Adshel and Taxi Media.

It will be bought by private equity firms Bain Capital and Thomas H Lee Partners for $37.60 a share.

Clear Channel has been blamed by some critics for creating a blander and more uniform US radio scene.

Clear Channel owns Premiere Radio Networks - which syndicates shows such as the Dr Laura Schlessinger and Ryan Seacrest radio programmes across the US to more than 5,000 stations.

Its shares rose 5% in early Thursday trading on hopes that the deal would trigger a bidding war for the firm.

Criticism

About a decade ago, Clear Channel was a small San Antonio-based radio chain with 36 stations.

Then, in 1996, radio was deregulated in the US, and the company, under its billionaire owner L Lowry Mays, went on a massive spending spree.

Clear Channel bought radio stations in every US state and developed an outdoor advertising empire - which now focuses on billboards and bus stops.

Mr Mays also signed up some 700 recording artists and celebrities when he bought the SFX talent agency, purchased concert venues and formed a division to promote live entertainment.

However Clear Channel's commercialism - Mr Mays once described radio as there simply "to assemble ears for advertisers" - has provoked fierce criticism.

Critics have complained that it exerted a negative effect on American radio through its homogenous playlists.

It also popularised voice-tracking, whereby segments of speech, music and commercials were sent digitally from one Clear Channel network to another.

These were then cut and pasted into the radio programmes, giving the listener the impression that, for example, a DJ was taking a live request or was doing an interview when, in fact, they were not.

Clear Channel argued that this technique allows it to deliver national DJ talent to local markets that could not otherwise afford it. It also cuts costs.

Last year, profits at the firm fell slightly, after it reduced the number of advertisements as a means to attract more listeners.

The Rock Says...

Where is my god damn license plate??? I do not honestly believe that someone will steal my license plate. It's like stealing an orange or stealing the skin of the banana. Give it time give it time! So I recently got a black Honda Civic LX(power windows + aircon is all i need) thanks to a credit card & a LOAN from my boss. Yup, I wish I could have bought it myself, but I wasn't sure how much longer my car could last, and I really wanted to sell it asap. Amazingly, I managed to sell it the day after I bought the Civic - maybe I got cheated & sold it for xtra cheap? Probably eh...but I'm willing to give a discount to save me the hassle of more bargaining or what-not.

Oh...just checked yahoo for "DMV CA license plate wait" and I discovered it could take as long as 6 mths to get your license plates. Good to know!

Just finished watching another flamboyant episode of the office. The one where the accountant is gay and Michael makes a big deal out of it. It ends with Michael kissing the man, and then Dwight grabs the guy and puckers up too. WOW! The office is awesome comedy imo~ It's like reality tv but better! I've come to watch 2 things on tv nowadays - Friday Night Smackdown & The Office. Yup...nt really into tv now, although I wish I had CNN. Or Saturday morning cartoons to actually look forward to like Animaniacs, Ninja Turtles or Bugs Bunny.

Something that's been perplexing me for some time: I'm supposed to work 8 hrs. a day but I find that I only have around 6 chargeable hours every day. Where the hell did the remaining 2 hours go? Maybe I should stay longer or something. I bet the boss would lose her marbles if she happened upon my little scheme. Work is getting better though, not so tormenting. And time passes quite fast actually, i noticed. I do hope that John the mad junior manager makes his return from Indonesia soon...no one else is really capable of covering his work. Apparently John likes Tintin & 50 Cent. He's a good junior manager.

I've worked 1 tax season and almost a year at this office. Sure, it's small and quiet a lot of the time, but most importantly I am kind of disappointed my tax knowledge is not at a significantly higher level than when I started. At least I think so. I mean I still get paid every 2 weeks and it's nice to receive money....still, I hope I will develop into a true professional you know? Put your money where your mouth is...or something of that nature.

I think I've finally gotten used to basically being a loner somewhat. It's not like Singapore anymore where I will have ppl to hang out with and kill the time. I miss those ppl and I miss those days! Of course it sucks to not have any friends in such a faraway place like the US! Simply joining a church group would alleviate this problem, as I've seen, but I guess nothing will replace the camarederie of the ppl I knew back home. Alas~~~

People are still dying in Iraq. Dropping like flies, the spark extinguished from their bodies all in a matter of seconds. North Korea seems to have backed down from its tough-guy stance. The US is quickly losing its respect or admiration around the world, I feel. Even the USD doesn't command that much foreign currency anymore. It could be the result of forcefeeding popstars down our throats, and ppl are finally wising up to the ruse - white people are not necessarily better and they can speak well, but they have no idea what they are talking about. Even USA basketball is taking a beating man! What the shit...

Yup my good friend Sharon seems to be really down on herself lately. Searching for the meaning of life? I guess some ppl find meaning in appreciating the little things, enjoying nature, stepping on dog shit. Others like to pimp their rides and drive very very quickly by pressign on the gas pedal very very hardly. Woo! That's very gangsta my friend! Some ppl have pets. Some ppl like to have sex. Some ppl like to have sex with their pets - you never know! Ken Shamrock - the world's most dangerous man - finds meaning in fighting his Ulimate Fighting Championship bouts. It all depends what interests you I guess, and whether you are motivated to pursue those interests. I'm content with eating instant noodles for example.

But maybe I can infer deeper as to the source of your frustrations. You are aware of your consciousness and presence; however, you are not satisfied with just living and watching each sun set. You desire a sense of advancement or achievement in order to validate existing. Am i close at all? I'm eating Strawberry yogurt now by the way. Thick & Creamy Custard style --- let's hope it has not expired.

On a very lighter level, I too am sort of disenfranchised with Transformers collecting. It has lost its flair! No longer do I feel compelled to buy every new figure that's sighted. No longer do I bide my time waiting for the postman to deliver something I've ordered online or EBAY. I do not even plot to scalp new toys on EBAY anymore! Is this because I'm eating less and less KFC? I did order He Man Season 1 Vol 1 DVD just 3 or 4 days ago heheheh. I think i will try to attain some vintage toys like Starcom Parasites, Visionaries, and even Smurfs. Lego castles is another dream of mine but I think all these do not come cheap. >_< MMMM...definitely Ninja Turtles too. Just the old stuff. You kids can keep your Pokemon and what-have-you!

I love reading celebrity blogs

I love reading celebrity blogs and when I found Damn I'm Cute tonight I got to laughing so hard at some of the entries.

Here's an examples:

Katie McDroid Holmes spent something like $3000 on lingerie recently, most of which was supposedly for this “wedding” she’s having in Italy. Who the hayl needs $3000 worth of underwears? I mean, I don’t know what happens to her underwears, but mine get all narsty and shredded, which is why I purchase from the Vicky Secs sales. But, I’m not marrying the richest creepiest man in America after having produced his alien child, so maybe if that was me, I’d want a nice thong too.

And it goes on and on about Paris Hilton's flabby ass, Oprah's best friends cheating whore husband, and Michael Jackson being stalked by an Australian drag queen. I got to laughing so hard. Now you go read also!

MAC is my love..........ho...ho...

Dual processors; dual boot…wouldn’t it be cool to have a laptop that would run XP and MacOS? I need to figure out a way to justify getting it — and paying for it.

I’m scared....

I’m scared, people. I’ve never been this scared in my life.

Three weeks ago I was sitting on the bed after a rather pitiful night’s rest, when my wife came in to the room out of the shower. She stopped dead in her tracks and stared at me. I looked back at her, but said nothing.

“What is that?” she asked.

I didn’t know what she was talking about, and I told her so.

“Your shoulder… it’s swollen.”

She proceeded to point out an area on my left shoulder that indeed did seem a bit enlarged, and as it didn’t provide any discomfort or stiffness, I ignored it and went on with my day. Three weeks later, it hadn’t gone away.

I went to the doctor yesterday, and there’s some good news. It’s not a tumor; there was no blood flow through it. However, my doctor seems to think it could be pretty serious. Lymphoma (often associated with Hodgkin’s disease) he said more than once during the examination. He prescribed the typical Z-pack antibiotics (just in case there’s some sort of bodily infection that’s causing the swelling of the lymph nodes) even though he couldn’t find any sign of infection in my ear or throat, and sent me down to the lab to have some blood work done.

I’ve got five days of pills to take and the results of my blood work to wait on. After that, he’s referring me to another doctor.

I haven‘t slept in two days.
