So, today is the first day that I got to look at my site in that piece of crap Internet Explorer. Yeah, this is why I don't do web design for a living. My site blows in IE (a tiny apology to those of you using IE, but then again, upgrade to a real standards compliant browser and your Internet world will look so much better). Part of me says screw it. IE sucks and don't waste my time getting perfectly valid code to work in a POS browser. Another part of me wants to figure out why it's broken in IE. I'm not sure which part will win, but the battle won't be fought today. I'm going to go surf Ravelry and knit instead. So there, IE. Suck it.

took my two younger boys to see WALL-E over the weekend. apparently so did millions of others. the movie earned over 62 million dollars at the box office. the movie had a very interesting premise where future earth is a toxic wasteland and the surviving population is off on a cruiseliner in space. Pixar’s take on rampant consumerism in our country is very poignant and I applaud them for planting a message in the young minds of today. but as the story ends with the overweight blob-like passengers of the cruiseliner returning to earth, I’m left to wonder if these people would even know how to begin life back on this planet. their whole life was spent on a cruise ship being waited on hand and foot by robots. my guess is that the majority of the passengers would soon realize the magnitude of the work involved in starting fresh on earth and just simply re-board the Axiom and head back out to space. oh, and an interesting thing to note here is the irony in the fact that the movie is being distributed by Disney, a corporation that heavily relies on consumers to spend as much as they can at their theme parks and on their vast array of merchandise. anyway, my lil’ kids give this movie a hearty thumbs-up!

Seems like, I have been acquainted with you only a day back. It’s been almost a year and the vivid memory of me meeting you for the first time is very much lively. I know one day I will have to bid you farewell for my entire life and seeing you again for the second time will just be a ray of hope. To the worst that one day when I will be saying bye to you is approaching relatively faster than that I had ever imagined. There is no helping as I sit here confused listening to Match Box 20’s classic number “When you’re gone”. You had really been a very wonderful person in my life who had a terrible effect on me. I can’t even think of my future days when you won’t be here. I would want to see you so bad after a year and there would be no solution. Meeting a good person and departing from them to me is the worst thing and the same worst thing is to happen.
Now I am bewildered in making new friends just because I can’t have the company for my whole life. Distance matter. I always loved being a nerd and this time around I was caught off guard. Anyways having you as a friend was one of the most miraculous things in my life and I enjoyed your company to the max. Thanks for being such a wonderful person in my life. I had never given any preferences to Skidrow one of the very best heavy metal groups. Recently I had a chance to hear some of the songs of Skidrow and it was like falling in love in an instant. I immediately start liking bands when they cover great songs of the past. The first one that I happened to hear the song of Skidrow was the cover song of Beatles called the “We can work it out”. This one is a great song and Sabastian Bach has sung it very well. The other song which impressed me was the one called “Love song”. The melody is great and the guitar work is outstanding. Whenever I listen to songs, my primary focus is always on the guitar works and lyrics don’t play any part in a song for me. This is why this special number called “Love song” is one of the masterpieces in the love songs category.

In this case, I had divined that people, driven by some mysterious impulse, tended to become specialized, experts in one field or another. Where did I obtain these shattering insights, you ask?

Beats me. I do sort of remember that I was myself somewhat of a “specialist” on marijuana at the time; this might explain it, among other mysteries.

I didn’t have a lot of lyrics for it, but no problem. I would “improvise” the rest, a la Jim Morrison.

Do not be alarmed by the person who apparently wanders into the session, randomly intoning the word “Four.” It’s just me, counting out the last half of the backbeat. (Most rock music uses a heavily-inflected backbeat, viz. one-TWO-three-FOUR.)

Or possibly I was imagining that I was on a golf course, shouting “Fore!” Those years are all a blur.

Every now and then my good friends are leaving for abroad. Bidding everyone a farewell eventually will likely to leave me stranded alone. There is nothing and no one to be blamed as I consolidate myself by thinking that I am not the only one. There may be so many people who are running through the same phase that I am in right now.

Just a couple of months back a boy who was quite friendly to me was also feeling the same as me. I still remember once, when he said something when all the people he knew were leaving for abroad. What he told the person who brought news about someone leaving was "Don't you ever tell me he/she is leaving, just let me know if someone I know is dead. I don't want to hear people going abroad." I laughed so much and finally he too has left.

I've lost almost 30 pounds from my highest weight ever. Wow, I couldn't believe it when I got on the old WiiFit today.Granted, gall bladder surgery and the resulting changes in my diet would not have been the way I would have wanted to lose weight, but I guess the universe wanted to give me a wake up call and I'm grateful. The WiiFit has made a major impact. Exercising with that thing is actually fun. Also, the new position at work has helped. I'm no longer a desk jockey and actually move around on my feet all day. It's murder on the feet, but it's good for the body. I am positive that this trend will continue since I will be able to start WiiFitting again in a couple of weeks.

Speaking of work, things in the printing industry are not going well. Magazines are folding, page counts are down and clients are looking for more economical ways to print or advertise. Rumors of impending layoffs are heard daily, it seems. One more reason I'm glad I took this new position. Not job security per se, but less of a chance of being let go that where I was before.

I thought back on how I learned about the birds and the bees back in the day. I vaguely remember having some sort of “health” class during the 6th grade, I think. but that’s not when I first learned about what goes on behind closed doors. We were living in Chicago at the time and my best friend Rajulio gave me the scoop around the 5th grade after he had learned about sex from his older brothers. From what I remember, I think I was a bit overwhelmed and grossed out about the whole thing. maybe it was the way he relayed the information to me. but it didn’t help matters when some older neighborhood kids hung out one day after school around our elementary school playground and passed down their dirty magazines to me and my circle of friends. the mags weren’t the glossy- playboy/penthouse kind either. the women were fugly and in poses that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. as kids who haven’t seen stuff from those *ahem* angles before, the photos made us all sick to our stomachs. but oddly, we kept on looking. and looking. … and looking. until our stomachs didn’t hurt anymore. ..it was a sacrifice we had to make so that we’d become “conditioned” to seeing women in “that way”. *wink*, *wink*

Manchester United is now at the top in the Barklays Premier League table. After a huge win over New Castle United at Old Trafford they went to the top leaping over Arsenal. Thanks to Birmingham for holding Arsenal to a one all draw.As soon as Manchester United topped the table I bought myself a Manchester United muffler which I have proudly hung in my room. It felt really good and now, Manchester United is sure to win the League. It doesn't matter how they perform in the FA Cup or the Carling Cup.I don't like Ronaldo at all but he scored a hat-trick while on the other hand the rock solid defender Rio Ferdinand scored a goal with one of my other favorite Carlos Tevez scoring two goals. In the match, Wayne Rooney played a significant role as he was involved in creating goals. He is the man to watch. When he doesn't score, he creates them.

I know what part of my problem is with trying to get by day to day...I am on the totally wrong schedule. I had something I had to take care of last week (more about that tomorrow perhaps), so I slept in and got into work around 11:30 am. The whole day I was alert, less grumpy, didn't need as much caffeine to get through the day. I also didn't have to deal with rush hour traffic on the drive either to or from work. I wish I could get on a later schedule permanently. I mentioned it to my boss, but he's so focused on other stuff right now, I don't think it registered.See, I've always been a night owl. My mother used to say that I'd come alive and wanted to play at 10 pm. Given the chance (summer breaks, period of unemployment), my body always retreats to its natural rhythm. I like to sleep during the day and stay awake most of the night. I'm starting to wake up right now, as a matter of fact. That's why I think I stayed in pizza delivery so long. It fit my normal schedule. I also get the most creative at this time. Just a bit ago, I was actually working on my new blog design. What sucks is I have to stop because I really should've been in bed over an hour ago.Once things "normalize" at work in March or so, I'm definitely going to bring it up again. I would definitely like to be on 2nd shift.

boy it was chilly getting up this morning. especially being downstairs for breakfast. you see, our 1st floor heating unit conked out on us last night. the upstairs unit was fine so we were fairly warm while sleeping. but with no heat for the 1st floor of our house, you can imagine how cold it got by morning. fortunately the service guy responded quickly and came by this morning to fix the heating unit. apparently the controller board on the unit burnt out. but, the repair bill ..ugh. that sure did put a dent in this month’s budget. … I just have to stay positive about stuff like this. think positive, think positive. for instance… I should be THANKFUL that the faulty board in the heater didn’t burst into flames and burn down the house, right? I should be THANKFUL that I have heat in the house again. I should be thankful that it wasn’t -10 degrees outside when the heater broke down last night. ..I SHOULD be thankful….

The late goals scored by Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo sealed the victory against Reading, the team which is struggling to remain away from the relegation zone. The defense line of Reading was quite strong but without any lethal offense, they could do nothing in front of a very strong attacking line with a well built mid field of Manchester United. The goal difference is the only thing that is present between Manchester United and Arsenal. Thanks to the last match in the Barklays Premier League in which Manchester United score half a dozen goals against New Castle United.On the other match Arsenal scored three nil against Fulham which is also struggling to remain in the league. I had a very wonderful day today. Everything went my way. Today being a new year's eve all the colleagues left the office premises a bit earlier than usual. I with a couple of my friends were still in the office waiting for the meeting to start but the wait went in vain. So leaving the office seemed to be a wise decision and so I too headed home.My usual evenings start with a warm conversation in the messenger. But the new year's eve left me all alone. There was no one to talk to (on the messenger). Some of my friends had asked me to come to a place where we could celebrate new year's eve and these kinds of celebrations are what I don't like, not at all. So here I am enjoying my own time listening to some of the greatest metal songs. Today is the last day of the month so I am working hard to achieve my monthly target which I have set up.There are a lot of assignments which I have to complete which makes me a good sum of money. So my only friend right now is HM with whom I am right now. But I miss something and I really do. I don't know what? Probably my friends who are having a good time out there, or is it my online friends? However I am always fascinated by Robinson Crusoe's life so here it is and I must enjoy this loneliness as I have Slipknot, Static-X, Rob Zombie screaming in my headset.

By David Evans. David is a mathematician, a computer and electrical engineer and is head of Science Speak. David is also a former believer in man-made warming who converted to skeptic. The summary below is an introduction to a larger paper that can be read here (PDF)
Our scientific understanding of global warming has gone through three stages:
1. 1985 – 2003. Old ice core data led us strongly suspect that CO2 causes global warming.
2. 2003 – 2007. New ice core data eliminated previous reason for suspecting CO2. No evidence to suspect or exonerate CO2.
3. From Aug 2007: Know for sure that greenhouse is not causing global warming. CO2 no longer a suspect.
The paper discusses how the ice core changes, missing greenhouse signature in the real data and the recent waning of the warming all suggest that carbon emissions are not behind the changes we have experienced in recent decades.
The IPCC 2007 report (the latest and greatest from the IPCC) is based on all scientific literature up to mid 2006. The Bali Conference is the bureaucratic response to that report. Too bad that the data has changed since then!

Hillsong Music

When I think of Hillsong Music, terms like - cookie-cutter and predictable come to mind. It’s a bit sad but true, fans pretty much know what to expect when picking up the latest Hillsong CD. Their albums don’t really sound all that much different from each other. In fact, you can probably toss the tracks from their last five releases up in the air and randomly re-assemble them and no one listening would be the wiser. But I have to say, it’s sort of tough picking on artists in the praise and worship genre. the artists/songwriters are producing music specifically for the church. so essentially they’re restricted in a sense to keep the song structures simple and the melodies easy to sing along to. it’s pretty much a catch-22. So, I’m not going to bash on Hillsong too much. Their latest CD, Saviour King is more of the same. let’s get the Hillsong standard checklist out: upbeat electric guitar based rockers, check. broad, arena-sized ballads, check. redundant Hillsong United remakes, check. and lots of bland, non-descript mid-tempo fillers, check. yup, that’s a Hillsong CD for ya. The only thing I look forward to these days in terms of Hillsong releases are the tracks originating from Hillsong United and songs by Brooke Fraser. their songs - Break Free, Lord of Lords, Hosanna and Saviour King are the highlights of the CD. Other than those tracks (along with I’m Not Ashamed and You Are Faithful), it’s pretty much bland-orama. But what can ya do? With the millions of dollars pouring into the Hillsong Church through their music ministry every year, it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll be changing their ways anytime soon…

Designing a site in general and your site specifically is always a bit tricky unless you are a designer by trade. You want something that is not too complicated or turgid so it runs well and is user friendly. Yet at the same time you still want the site to be something that is distinctive that separates you from the rest of the rapidly expanding pack. Content makes a lot of difference as well, of course, but the design of your website can be equally good at attracting an audience.
There are many times when blogs are linked to by other bloggers merely because they have changed the design of their site. This blog included. Naturally with bloggers you will know what they think of the new layout rather quickly.
In that quest to do something special and interesting with your design a reliable source of tips helps. As with everything on the web; someone has been there and tried/done that before you. There will be someone who can tell you what not to even bother trying and what really works. Not using those resources is both silly and a waste of time. We all are busy people and time is not exactly an ever expanding commodity.

South Africa is one of the favorites to win any championships in cricket. The South African team is very well balanced team in all departments. Whether it is about bowling, fielding, batting everything is good but they are an unlucky team. Being such a good team they did not reach the T-20 World Cup Final. The history also proves it all. In the ICC World Cup as well they have never crossed the Semi-final stages. Though there is no fault in the team but it’s a fate I should say. They once reached the semi-final of the world cup when England beat them where Duck Worth Louis method was applied. Had the rule been not applied South Africa would have beaten the English team which the cricket lovers know. Following this World Cup South Africa again crashed out of the preliminary rounds when they hosted the World Cup jointly with Zimbabwe and Kenya. In the next edition of the World Cup too, they were eliminated in the semi-final by Australia. This is the game which no one would forget. The final score was leveled but due to the run rate Australia proceeded to the final and won the ICC World Cup as well.
In this T-20 World Cup too, they were a very good team but just couldn’t go beyond the semi-final. The likes of Graeme Smith the skipper, hard hitter Justin Kemp, technically sound batsman Hershelle Gibbs and A. B. D. Villers too could not do anything. Nevertheless South Africa is a very good team in fact the best and some day they will lift the cup and dominate the world of cricket like the Australians are doing right now.

just curious. what would YOU do in this situation.

the neighbor across from you sets up lil’ toy traffic cones for his son to maneuver his toy car around in the cul-de-sac (sort of like an obstacle course). that’s all well and good but some of the cones just happen to be positioned in front of your driveway. and you need to head out and do some errands so you open up the garage and start the minivan. as common courtesy, you wait a minute or so to give the neighbor enough time to move the kid and the cones away from your driveway. after a minute or so, you look back and see that the cones are still positioned out on the street with the neighbor and his kid sitting on the edge of their lawn.

do you…?

a) back up your driveway slowly and then maneuver your minivan in a careful manner so that you don’t run over the cones, all the while smiling and waving at your neighbor and his lil’ son.

b) get pissed off at your neighbor for being so inconsiderate, back up without being too concerned about his toy cones and drive away without acknowledging said neighbor.

c) get angry at this neighbor’s ongoing inconsiderate ways and back up in a forceful manner, run over his cones on purpose and pull away at top speed with your middle finger proudly displayed out your driver side window.

d) stop your vehicle at the end of your drive, get out and kick the traffic cones out of the way while shouting expletives at your shitty neighbor right in front of his lil’ brat of a kid.

yeah, yeah, i know what Jesus would do. BUT what would YOU do?

In foreign countries there are a lot of adventure sports and it is slowly picking up here in Nepal too. We now have Wall Climbing an artificial wall or rock climbing site in the capital. Named after the first Nepali woman to conquer Mt. Everest Passang Lamhu Sherpa this wall climbing site has been named as Passang Lamhu Wall Climbing. It is in Kathmandu in a place called Mandikhatar. Seen from a few metres away the wall it is a five to six storied building and it is also used by rock climbers and mountaineers in the form of practice sessions. Though the competition we see in the X-Games is still to be practiced here. All in all it is one of the recreational sports here in Nepal.

Need for Speed: Carbon

Are they just completely incompetent or do they just not care? I summited a query why Need for Speed: Carbon crashes more that Lindsey Lohan behind the wheel of her car and got no response. What was ironic is that I was sent a satisfaction survey by them after they failed to do anything about my query. As far as I can tell EA could give a damn about the Mac and are just popping stuff out for the platform for a laugh.

Games are getting a hammering on Apple.com as well; except for the inevitable fan boys giving it a 5 to jones up the rating. My initial impressions are NFS: Carbon is a buggy mess, Battlefield has a high learning curve (no tutorial for instance) that gets dull quickly and C&C:3 (after update) is by far the best of the three.

Update: NFS: Carbon is one of the few programs that hard crashes OSX that is really some achievement.

We never had a recreational water park here in Nepal until recently Manisha Koirala saw a potential market in such part and started a project related to Water Park. This park is a few kilometers away from the capital and is in Dhading district. After a week long hectic and busy hours you can go and refresh yourself at this water kingdom. There are a lot of good food stalls with different dishes available with all the water games like not sports though. There are no worries regarding transportation to and from this park. There are a number of local busses and vans cruising around that route which makes transportation to and from this site an easy access from all parts of the valley and its surroundings. This is the one and only aquatic recreational site in Nepal. Hope it would be consistent in keeping up with the cleanliness as we all know here in Nepal everything lasts good only for a couple of years of being established. May that not happen to this water kingdom and may it bear the same amount of charm in the future as it bears now. I haven’t been there but have been thinking of visiting that place in my coming summer vacation and I long to get my vacation very bad.

My mom picked up Maggie and Levi this morning for church and a picnic. I headed to the mall to get Boomer and his friend, Nick. Nick’s mom, Cindy, was there with all four of her kids. Hard to believe that Cindy was a 17 year old high school girl when she moved in with us so many years ago. We had such a nice time walking around the mall together that we decided to head to one of the nicer restaurants to sit down for a meal. Cindy’s 3 month old baby, Anna, dropped off to sleep just as we were ordering and dozed right up until the end of the meal. The kids chatted and joked and we had a really great time.I love seeing Cindy. I remember the turmoil that surrounded her life and brought her to our family. It’s just so wonderful to see her as a happy mother of four. She’s done well.

The Host DVD

we recently viewed The Host on DVD and i have admit that it exceeded my expectations as a horror film. the horror genre certainly isn’t a personal preference of mine so i wasn’t totally sure if i’d like the flick but since it had been getting a lot of positive buzz and plus the fact that it’s korean got me to place it on top of my netflix queue. the movie starts out a bit like one of those old monster B-movies and suddenly takes off when the creature emerges from the Han river. the well written characters and carefully crafted visuals save the flick from being too campy. there’s no Jerry Bruckheimer style hero to save the day here. just a dim-witted slacker trying to save his daughter from the mutant creature with the aid of his family. i loved the dopey korean humor in the film and the scene of the creature’s initial rampage through the park was a real thrill to watch. The Host gets a big thumbs up from me and i highly recommend that you place it on your queue.

My experience of playing role playing games began and ended quite quickly when they hit computer screens as text based adventures where there were no graphics and all was left to our imagination. Even when they started to introduce graphics RPGs still held very little appeal. On the other hand when you play World of Warcraft and similar games like Everquest - that can be played online with other players - you become more and more drawn into a new world that, if you are not careful, will replace the real one.

There is incredible depth to the game even once you complete all quests and reach the final level of the game. You get more incentive to play whether you prefer playing alone or with other online players and friends, going on Epic quests or raids against territories and towns held by the opposing faction which is the case of Horde players is the Alliance faction.

In fact if anything you really must try and get to the last level of the game as soon as possible because that is when the game becomes really interesting. But to do so can really take months unless you play 24/7 and even then it can takes several days or even weeks unless you know what to do.

So what you need is a World of Warcraft Guide to show you the quickest way to reach the later and more interesting levels in the game. If you’re horde, I can’t recommend Joana’s guide enough times. I have used it twice already to reach the last levels of the game. First time was probably more slow than it says but this is because there is a lot of features in the game that personally I had to get used to as I did not play World of Warcraft before, and it does have a lot of features that you will probably take time to learn although for the purpose of the guide learning the basics is very sufficient.

Anyway with the guide I used (ie Joana’s) all you need to know is how to follow directions as well as following the co-ordinates that show you exactly where to go to complete the most worth while quests that will power level your character fast and easy. It is constructed in such a way that you won’t be left frustrated wondering where to go next or looking around mountains and plains for hours wondering where the heck is that cave you’re supposed to find in order to carry your quest out.

As mentioned earlier, you will still need to master the mechanics of the game. But the guide does also give you hot keys and further tips needed to facilitate your play. Also you can use the free guide I provide in the links below at the end of the article where you can also find reviews to other guides, including one if you prefer to play as an Alliance player which is just as good as Joana’s.

They just opened up a Sierra Gold near our house, so last night we decided to check it out. When we first walked in there was no hostess, so we just sat down wherever. The music was really loud, and we could barely hear each other speak. We waited and waited for a waitress to bring us a menu. After awhile, Michael gave up and went and got them himself. A bar waitress came and took our drink order, then the kitchen waitress came over and took our food order. I always hate when a place does a separate tab like that. It is a pain to pay two bills at the end of the evening. Needless to say, I was hating this place already.

I ordered a 6oz petite fillet, and Michael ordered the Ahi Tuna Seared Steak. My steak was by far the best, most tender, and perfectly cooked steak I have ever eaten. I do have some steak authority, because I have eaten in some of the 5 star steak houses around the US. So when I say this was the best, it is the best. I could cut it with my fork, and it melted in my mouth.

The final Harry Potter novel sold over 8.3 million copies in the United States in its first day of publication. It deserves every one of the sales, and many more.
My wife and I purchased our copies, and one for our daughter, a few minutes after midnight on Saturday, at a Barnes and Noble a few minutes from our house (our son and his girlfriend bought their copies around the same time, in the city). When we left the store, kids with their copies were sitting in front, eagerly reading. I should have taken a picture.
I finished the novel around 5 this morning. My family had finished about a day earlier (hey, I had to leave a little time for watching television - but I also like to read at a leisurely pace).
There were so many things I loved about the novel. I'll go over some of them here. But consider this review a work in progress - I'll be back with more.
The interactions among the magical species were better than in the any of the previous novels: The banking, swordmaking goblins, in particular, were fleshed out, and played a crucial role in this story. So did house elves, and the giants and centaurs put in good appearances, too. Harry, Hermione, and Ron even got a chance to fly on another dragon.
All the beloved elements of the series got a great workout: Whether you like Patronuses or Nearly-Headless Nick or the magic of wizardry painting (enabling the people in portraits to talk to viewers, move to other frames in their vicinity, or even migrate to other portraits of themselves, wherever they may be - as a media theorist, I especially enjoy that) - they're all here.
It was good to see radio in the picture: Harry, Hermione, and Ron spend an amount of time on the run, cut off from knowledge of what is happening to their friends and enemies. As I was reading a heart-warming, riveting section in which Ron is able to tune in a pirate radio station - Potterwatch - I realized that only someone from Britain could write this so effectively. When that country teetered on the edge of falling to the Nazis at the beginning of World War II, it was Winston Churchill's voice on the radio that kept it going. Harry Potter is in many ways a uniquely British contribution to the world - at once British and universal. Much like the Beatles, it reflects the special genius on the other side of the Atlantic for entertaining and educating the world.
Lots of good details that explain oddities in our world: For example, why you sometimes walk or drive down a street, and notice the numbering on the houses has missed a beat - as if a number was accidentally skipped or left out. (This was probably in earlier novels, too, but it was good to get that little insight again. One of the best things about science fiction and fantasy is their offering exotic but logical explanations for everyday oddities.)
My favorite line: Molly Weasley, dueling with Bellatrix: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" Yeah, all caps, and deservedly so.
Life and deaths: With a few exceptions, all warranted, and deeply satisfying.
Quibbles? Inevitable - no story, even the one J. K. Rowling has given us, can be perfect for every reader. But they're so few - indeed, just three, really - that I can put them here in one little paragraph: (i) Several good people died at the end, who didn't need to, or whose deaths were too off-scene and therefore didn't seem motivated. (ii) I don't get why Harry, Hermione, and Ron refrain from using killing curses on the villains, and confine themselves to stuns, etc. (iii) There was an unnecessary Epilogue.
But these are small reservations to an extraordinary ending to an extraordinary series.

My friends just told me that there's a new Bob Ong book entitled MACARTHUR. This is his 6th book and as per Glenn, it's actually quite different from his previous books. I've actually read all his other books and I enjoyed his sense of humor and his witty remarks.
So I've been checking a few websites if they're already selling it online, and unfortunately, it's still not available. So I've asked my husband to just send me the copy that he has so that I wouldn't have to be bothered of waiting for it to be available for online purchase. It's a pity that they don't have pre-order features for Filipino books.
I've read a few forums about the book and the reviews said that it talks about a deeper issue but still has some humor included, like dark comedy. Though it's fiction, the story is very realistic in today's society, telling a story about drugs and the affects on the family. Some said that this book is NOT one of his best and from what Glenn told me, "bitin yung ending" so he thinks that I might not like it compared to what I was used to when reading any Bob Ong material.
Anyway, I'll still have to wait a few more weeks before I could get hold of this book. But my anticipation isn't that severe since I'm still expecting my HP7 in a few days.

I have forgot how much energy it takes to get up at 6:30 in the morning for work and not get off until the evening. I have been doing it this whole week and I’m absolutely beat. I got off work today, came home and just sat in front of the TV for a good hour.

Most of our chickens are free range chickens, meaning they are free to roam the property and into the woods or anyplace their little hearts desire, we have no neighbors around us that this can be a problem for and it makes for far better egg production when they are free range.But there is a drawback related to the youngsters and that comes from the air born predators such as hawks during the day time and owls at night, the owls are the worst because they can and do hide in the trees and when the youngsters get to far away from momma hen, they can become a target so fast.Last night we lost 3 youngsters who for some reason didn’t want to stay in the hen house with mom and returned to the outdoors to roost behind the hen house, this morning we found nothing but feathers from the 3 youngsters and we think it was the Owl who has been giving us problems here for awhile now.

We do have an Owl trap on the property and it has caught a few over the years, we then have to call the game commission for instructions on what to do once they are captured.

This past weekend I went and saw Evan Almighty. Overall I’d give it a decent rating. Nothing spectacular but then again nothing crappy either.There were definitely a few good messages within the movie. The one that stuck out to me was when Morgan Freeman, who plays God, was talking with Evan’s wife about how crazy Evan seemed to be building an ark. He posed a simple question to her: when someone prays for courage, do you think God gives them courage or gives them the opportunity to be courageous?

It’s such a simple idea yet is extremely overlooked. People are constantly praying for courage, wisdom, etc. After they get done praying they think they’re in the clear - that if it’s meant to be God will give them said character value. But it isn’t as easy as that. We must seize an opportunity if it presents itself - God isn’t going to give us everything on a silver platter. In the end it all goes back to God’s love for us in giving us the right to choose whether to follow him or not - free will. Just as we’re able to accept or reject Him, we also need to step up to the plate and take opportunities that God has given us.

We were lucky to have Sunday to catch up on rest, but it was not enough as far as I'm concerned. Everything went well, even though it was about 95 degrees outside. I was happy to hang out with Mike's cousins and aunts, most of whom I had only spent minimal time with or was meeting for the first time. I'm so glad I had that chance to get to know them better because it will make our wedding all the more special. I also got to meet many more people from Mike's parent's side that will be attending our wedding.I can't believe our wedding is in less than 3 months! I'm working to remember and relearn all the drumming techniques that were once at my command. To this end, I'm listening to a wide range of music. Yesterday, while I focused on the heavy thrash metal songs, I had an epiphany about how closely related this style is to another form that is completely unrelated. If you take a song from, say, Metallica, throw in a tuba, an accordion, and a voice that didn't sound like someone gargling moist phlegm, you would have a polka tune! Granted, the words wouldn't be as uplifting as you'd expect but the fast paced beat is certainly there. Just an observation. I don't expect Metallica to be releasing an album of "by golly", "you betcha'" polka tunes any time soon.

I just love what Im doing to Nicole right this time. She is cooperating well when I told her to wee on her potty. It's like every minute I have to remind her hehe silly me! For now my eyes are keep on her just incase she want's to make poop. She is being a good girl cos she would tell me the sign like"poo poo" but I knew she is going to wee lol! I know when she is about to have it cos the expressions of eyes. It's nice to see her new development. I know it would take a while and patience with it but we don't force her, it is still good when she does that although we are here for her supporting and still training her. In the long run they don't need our reminders but to do it on their own. She is getting good at it though. This morning she sat on it and wee, it's her second or third time to do it. But haven't really had poop in it. Before she will just sit in there and following me pushing hard then she would get some tissue pretending wiping her small cute butt haha! You kids are just so precious though, they are so cute, angel when they do things by following us. Hehe! So very cute indeed! Silly me cos I put her potty besides our bed or besides here while watching tv so she would always remember it when she wants to do something lol!

Every night, the same routine will take place. I put kids to bed, and Gordon must poo. Must poo when the light are out..... Niamah. I must then go clean him and change him again. Malcolm will start screaming and it wont end till maybe he feels tired or out of battery. He's still at it as i'm typing this.
I've been in bed trying to put the both of them to sleep for the past one and a half hour. It's driving me nuts every single night. I dont what is worse. Hope everybody had a good Independence Day yesterday. I took a bit of a holiday myself since I wasn't needed at work.We had a little BBQ with some friends and then watched the Aurora fireworks display from the parking lot of PetSmart over at I-225 and Alameda. There was this one drunk dude there that was throwing fireworks up in the air and getting belligerent when people complained that sparks were falling on them. He made the mistake of throwing one right in front of an Aurora police officer that was patrolling the crowd on a dirt bike. Ha, Loser! I was amazed at all the dumb asses that tried to stop on the interstate to watch the fireworks. This one van load of people even got out of their vehicle. Yeah, like that was smart. Good thing the police were patrolling and moving them along before someone got hurt. Right after the fireworks ended, a really cool wind blew in bringing a heavy downpour with it. It was kind of cool to sit in the back of the Escape with the back door up watch the rain and waiting for the crowd to dissipate before heading home.

The sucky part was I didn't get to sleep until after midnight with all the fireworks being shot off in the neighborhood and a nightmare woke me up at 4 am. Working on 4 hours sleep was no fun today. Thankfully, I got a little nap in after work. It's going to be early to bed for me tonight!

Not too long ago, I received a tip off that E*Trade will dilly dally in processing applications from Malaysia, if at all. And then I got news that they started to process once again, except that in its new policy, all applications and accounts from Asia will be handled by the Hong Kong branch. All new accounts will also have the Hong Kong address and not the New York address.
And as if all these limitations are not enough, E*Trade will no longer offer its free debit card to account holders. Account holders are now expected to do a telegraphic transfer of their funds to their own local bank should they wish to withdraw funds from their E*Trade account.
For people whose applications are caught in this change in policy, do they still want to open an account? What good is it now with the Hong Kong address and without the debit card, the inability to withdraw funds directly from any ATM?

I’ve been working for CIT at UB since October of 2005. It’s kind of hard to grasp for me, I’ve never held a job steady for this long of a time period. It’d be nice if I was able to get a promotion to senior though, it kinda makes me feel like dirt being a junior after such a long time period and seeing all these juniors getting promoted before me that were hired after me. I’m wondering what I do so wrong that makes me not eligible.It’s odd. I pick up hours like crazy, I show up for my shifts on time or early, leave late because I finish what I started, I’m courteous to customers regardless of how they treat me and I still am in the same place I was at the beginning. I even cover for people a lot and did the September welcome that we offered in August (Ironic, yes) and worked about 20 hours that weekend so I’m showing effort and I get involved.

Maybe I’m just not meant for it or I should follow the philosophy of good things come to those who wait but waiting sure is making me even more impatient. *sigh* We’ll see, maybe I’ll have more luck getting promoted at IGA.

We're turning out to be quite a well networked family! Between the five of us, we have 4 computers and laptops, all connected wirelessly. I'm using my wireless connection for the first time this past week (since I got this computer earlier this year) and it's been a real lifesaver. I've been able to do a lot of work, and do my work faster as well, since I'm working on my familiar system. I am so addicted to using tabs, that I just can't get into the rhythm of working without them. And since a lot of computers don't have IE7 or Firefox installed, using regular windows makes my work take much longer to complete.

If I haven't worn them in the past year, then I assume that I probably am not going to wear them in the following year. My dinner

My dinner for tonight and Nicole was rice and fried eggplant mixed with eggs. Hmm it was really yum yum! I bought the eggplant last week when we do some groceries at asian store. Good thing they have eggplant just like in the PI. Unlike in the other store which way too big and it doesn't taste good compare the small eggplants. After eating, had to wash the dishes, well it wasn't really my plan to do the dishes tonights cos I was thinking of doing it tomorrow though since Im kinda tired but my mind couldn't resist of washing them so I just finish what I have started. Well, I guess it's good since I couldn't see dirty dishes tomorrow morning when having our breakfast.

Another great pool player is Ronato Alcano who also happens to be from Philippines. Ronato is also the champion of one time and his trademark quality is his break. Unlike other pool players he does not break as hard as others do. His break is always soft and pockets as well. Most of the other players break so hard that we can see their stick bending. Ronato is a soft breaker and he too takes risks while making his shots.

Since yesterday, anna’s health has improved although today she still has some fever, about 37.2 C. Not sure why is this but it could be due to her teething as well because can see two more teeths coming out. Last night we had the aircon at low fan and high temperature so I think that improved her condition not to have runny nose. However, she refused to sleep on her bed during bedtime and was like pointing to the sleeping swing. Mummy didn’t want to put her in there so she cried and cried for about 30-40 minutes. Then later Mummy carry her and rock her to sleep instead. I guess she was just worried that if she give in to her demands, she may get used to the sleeping swing and want to sleep in there all the time.We shall see how she goes today. Hopefully there’s no more fever. The good thing is that she is back to her cheerful self and like to make interesting expressions to everyone… One of these days must take some video of her expression… really funny and cheeky.

I received an invitation to participate in an MLM whereby a new member has to pay USD2 to each member on the up line (there are six members) and also an admin fee of USD0.50

After making the payment, I would be given a personalized homepage with my own referral ID and I am to spread the news of my own homepage and try to recruit as many people as possible to join under me so that my name which is at the bottom, will go up, and I will receive USD2 from each person.

If I participated and do not market my site, then I will forever NOT recover my investment of USD12.50. This MLM group is using E-Gold which I do not have an account with.

Now, the problem is, MLM like this is ILLEGAL. If you were to use PayPal for this purpose, your account would be banned!

So if anyone was ever thinking of getting a quick buck though this, think again. Yes, it is possible to earn money through the internet but this is definitely not the right way. Remember, there is no shortcut way to richness although I am not saying that marketing a homepage is easy but STILL!

We were watching a show about top tips on selling your home, and one of the simplest tips they had that stopped buyers in their tracks was clearing the clutter. You'd think it would be common sense, but it seems it is not. If you want to clean the clutter up, you may make that sale a little quicker.

Simple tips like keeping things neat, picked up and all those extra knick-knacks packed away, seemed almost crazy that people would have to say it out loud. Apparently they did, and it was the number one problem people ran into! Again, to me, common sense, but I guess to many it isn't. I know I have mention to you before that I design graphics, t-shirts, mouse pads, clocks, kids clothes and more. I do that by using cafe press. How popular is your blog?

A question that is always at the front of a bloggers mind is measuring how popular their blog is. How many people are reading what I write? How much influence do I exert on the blogosphere? While these two questions are relatively hard to answer, there are metrics and factors you can use to measure your blog with.

Site Metrics
There are a number of metrics out there you can use to get an idea of how much your blog is being used. The simplest way it to count how many visitors and page views your site gets. There are a number of tools out there that do this, however my favourite is Google Analytics, it’s free and tremendously powerful. If you use WordPress, another option is to use a stats plugin. My choice here is FireStats. It integrates beautifully with WordPress and provides a pretty comprehensive set of stats. If these don’t work well for you, there’s a host of other tools out there, from free packages like AWStats to fully fledged packages like WebTrends.

Web Metrics
Another set of figures you can use to gauge your site’s popularity is to use web metrics published by various authorities on the Internet. For example, Google assigns each web page a PageRank to determine how “important” a page is. Alexa ranks each website based on how many visits from people using it’s toolbar the website gets. More relevant to blogs is a Technorati Ranking which is based on how many sources your blog has in relation to others that Technorati knows about.

Other Factors
For those of you who don’t trust these figures there are other factors you can use to determine whether your blog is popular or not. One of these is how much spam your website receives. The more popular your blog, the more comment spam you will find. While not an exact science, if the amount of daily spam you get is increasing, that’s a pretty good indication that your blog is getting more popular. I came across another factor this morning: while going to Lilian Chan’s blog 5xMom’s I accidentally misspelt her URL (thinking that Lilian was spelt Lillian) and ended up on a spam site! If people are buying up misspellings of your URL, you can bet that your blog is becoming pretty popular!

Just keep in mind that all these factors won’t mean much in absolute terms but you can use them to chart your growth or to come up with a relative indication of how you compare to other bloggers out there.
